Embarrassingly, I am in my mid twenties, and they were in their early thirties! I know its pathetic but I am genuinely stumped on what I should of done, it felt like a lose lose situation and that I handled it the best way so far compared to what everyone else has said, I am just wondering what people here would of done.

When they said, "ha ha we hid the phone", your reaction should have been "oh, okay (no facial reaction) ....she would like her phone back now."

If they don't return it right away, say nothing until you are ready to leave (which should be pretty damn soon, given the maturity level they display), then tell them to get the phone. No please, no thank you. If they do not return it then, leave without it. Go get a new phone and tell the homeowner you expect to be reimbursed for the cost of the phone his or her other guests stole and did not return.
