Why is it ok to release the name of the man she killed but not her name?

Dallas police have not yet released the female officer's name. She is now on administrative leave.

Police would not say whether she fired her weapon because she thought Jean was an intruder or for some other reason. It's not yet clear how she got into the wrong apartment.

How is she not arrested? She was off duty, unlawfully entered someone's apartment (mistake or no, she was trespassing at the very least), and killed him.

That's really difficult to believe.

Both that it was just a "mistake/accident"... and that she apparently actually HIT him with one shot (must have been point blank).

Also note that the victim is being named...but the perp gets anonymity.

Police will not identify the female officer until she has been formally charged. However, Chief Hall did confirm she is a white patrol officer.

Surprised they're even saying THAT much. (Also "until"? I think more like "if" since it's VERY likely she never will be "formally charged.")
