It is embarrassing and painful to say it, but my dad is most certainly a beta male. I love him and this sounds very disrespectful, but it is true when I think about how he acts and has acted in the past.

He is quite fat, and when I try to encourage him to exercise more or watch his diet (obviously for his benefit, not trying to put him down), he generally comes up with reasons why he can't do so, or admits that I am right but does nothing about it. He often acts in somewhat embarrassing or inappropriate ways in public, which I try to subtlety discourage.

I would never even consider calling him out or being disrespectful towards him, that is just wrong, I just observe his actions and consider them to improve my own life.

I would consider myself starting to become more alpha when I started lifting, at age 22 (24 now), but until then I was a complete loser and pussy, not ashamed to admit that. Nowadays I have a more realistic, yet often somewhat dark view of the world and my life.

I have recently committed fully to improving my life; going hard at the gym, making sure my diet is good, studying for exams, meditating and practising my social skills (I have been working on smiling at people because I usually walk around looking like I want to kill someone). I was getting laid a bit last semester at uni, but honestly right now I don't care much about girls and am mainly thinking about improving myself.

Back to the original topic. I feel that growing up I was not taught 'alpha' traits and actions, and I think it is undeniable that a boy learns pretty much everything growing up from his father. I believe that this has made the journey slightly harder, but I am completely confident in myself that I will make it to where I want to be. Can anyone else relate to this?
