I’m 38 and recently divorced a little over a year ago. My ex was actually a great person (relative to today’s standards). We started dating when I was 20 and got married 5 years later (so I was with her from 20-37....17 years).
Neither of us wanted kids. As the years went on our relationship (as one should expect) got a little “stale” in her mind. The difference between the two of us was that I fully expected things to get a little “stale” after 17 years. When you sign up to be with the same person for the “rest of your life” you HAVE to expect that there will be times of boredom. The magic happens within first 5 years and then it slowly dwindles.
NOW HERE’S THE FUNNY PART
She decided to “temporarily” separate and move out into an apartment. “We are going to work on things”.
Right then I knew it was over. A week later she came over for a night and mentioned that she watched the movie “Eat. Pray. Love”.
If any of you have ever watched this awful excuse for a movie, you will enjoy the rest of this.
My ex had a certain “glow” to her and I knew that I had to watch the movie later to see what it was really about.
Anyways my ex went through with the divorce and I think her seeing that movie was a “you go girl” moment.
The funniest part is that the writer of the movie “Elizabeth Gilbert” (which the movie is about and is a true story of her divorce) ended up marrying a Brazilian businessman who she met on her travels.
They got divorced a few years ago. So she is now twice divorced.
NOW - at the ripe age of 49, she is a lesbian.
Moral of the story - be careful who you get your “encouragement” from. They might just be a nut job.
Relationships get “stale” it is natural. It is the same thing as listening to your “favorite” song on repeat for days on end - it’s gonna get a bit played out. The issue is that women think that being married for a lifetime will consist of constant new and exciting experiences, which only happens in reality if they marry a millionaire with no worries of cash expenditures.
For this reason I am red-pilled. With a 50-51% divorce rate, and women initiating 85% of them - I would be an idiot not to ever get married or be in a long term relationship ever again.
“Who will take care of you when you’re old?????”
Me: Robots and my dog.
