Don't get trapped by oneitis.

Don't believe that you can actually be loved in a relationship.

Remember that the man provides commitment and loyalty, and the woman is renting those for a while. She doesn't provide either. She's not yours, it's just your turn.

No woman is worth it. But I completely understand when your entire validation stream comes from women, you're putting yourself in a disastrous position.

A co - worker of mine told me that years ago he had a friend that went through a rough break up. Him and his wife let him move in with them. He said his friend drank everyday on the couch feeling sorry for himself and despite their best efforts he killed himself. Dude has mad guilt about not doing more for his friend but.....Oneitis.

heh, I remember when I was in the phase of deep romanctic affection you go through just before the relationship starts thinking to myself "she means so much to me, if for some reason she died I would kill myself so I could carry on being with her". She turned out to be the most spiteful, manipulative, grumpy, miserable, selfish piece of shit I've known I think, and I just laugh at myself for thinking that. I was 19 at the time so I guess I deserve a bit of leeway...

I'm in a sober home. This guy was clean off heroin and he had a major case of oneitus. He just had a kid with his ex (pregnant before break) and she left him after he relapsed. She was all he thought about. He was sure he could win her back if he got sober. He was blind to the fact that it was over, completely over and she had moved on. Yet, she was all he thought about. He couldn't handle it and used. I found his corpse in his room.
