Literally zero people I know save more money while they are married. The marriage tax credits are like getting $1000 back for spending $30,000 extra a year that you didn't need to if you were single.

Well, that actually depends on the earnings of each member of the marriage. Roughly speaking, if they earn about the same, they pay a marriage penalty. It's only when you have lopsided earnings do you see a benefit. Before MGTOW, that's what made me decide to never remarry. There was no way I would have considered marrying someone who earned significantly less than me, since then I risked being on the hook for alimony. Consequently, there would have been a marriage tax penalty. I spent the latter half of the Bush admin and all of the Obama admin limiting earnings precisely because I did not want to fund the federal government anymore than I had to. Even turned down a job paying significantly more (>25%) with that as one of the major considerations, and I did no investing. That changed last year when Trump came into office. I overdid, earning more last year than all 8 years of Obama with the accompanying tax burden, but at least it was with a POTUS who wasn't overtly hostile to my best interests and to me as a person. Based on the sluggish recovery to the 2008 recession, and the explosive growth that began election night 2016, I was not alone in going galt-lite.

I know people with kids that get money back each year while someone like me who makes $60K a year has to pay in. I always say, so you get money back because your married/have kids, still doesn’t make it worth while. I’d rather pay in my $1200 a year than get back $6000+ for having kids.

It's easy to see the affect if you use Turbo Tax or some other program. My 2017 taxes would drop by 46% by changing my status to married. Of course it is in no way an option.

You can make 100k without paying fed taxes if you live outside the country.

If you set it up right, you can save 100k and have your off-shore business pay the bills on your lavish lifestyle. You're going to need something to bring to the market that you can make a coin on.
