My dad was on life support in the hospital, in a medically induced coma for 17 days, and I had been the only one taking care of him before he went to the hospital. I felt like I could have done more and had a massive amount of guilt on me. I was at the hospital, texting my then-gf about it, and saying that I felt guilty and horrible about the whole thing. She said the standard "it's not your fault, you did your best" until about the third time I mentioned it, when she got in a huff and said "well I don't know what else to say if you're just going to keep saying that, I'm just going to leave you alone then" and I had to APOLOGIZE to HER about it. What the fuck man? My dad is literally fighting for his life right now and because I can't shake the guilt you're just throwing your hands up and telling me I'm too much effort? Fuck. It actually made me cry right there, her acting like that while I was dealing with those things. That was about 2 years into our 6 year relationship. I should have fucking seen it coming. And yes, we also had a moment where she cheated on me and got mad that I found out about it by seeing something on her phone (while we were at the movies, she showed me a message from her parents and a message from the guy came through, then I looked at her phone more later). She never even told me she was sorry about cheating. I don't know where I'm going with all this aside from letting you know that others have been there, brother. Women can be pretty fuckin awful
