Root canal vs. having tooth pulled, which do you prefer?

Personally I would go with the root canal and crown. I actually have had a root canal and bridging done and it has worked out great.

Where is the tooth located? If people can't see it when you talk or smile, then just have it pulled. But if having it pulled, will leave a noticeable gap when you talk or smile then you have to go with the root canal and crown. It's extremely important to have good looking teeth when you talk or smile.

I recently had the exact same situation. The tooth isn't visible when I smile so I had it pulled. No regrets so far

I’ve had a couple pulled vs root canal. Cost for extraction was about $100 for me, with a root canal quoted at $1800. 1 molar and 1 incisor.

No regrets. Was pain free and felt great in a few hours. Yes, I have gaps in my teeth now, but you can’t see it when I smile.

I had my first one removed around 30 and the second around 38 I believe.

Better pull it, you are gonna spend more If you root it because it will go darker every year and you'll need to replace it and Ceramic teeth are insanely expensive. If it's not a front tooth, pull it. It's not gonna hurt. I pulled mine this summer, I regret waiting too much, should've pulled it one year ago as it gave me complications. Pulling it solved everything.

If it's a molar... have it pulled, period.

Root canals can have so many frigging problems, among other things if they're not done right they can even lead to loss of additional adjacent teeth (happened to my mother). And crowns rarely last much longer than a decade.

I recently read a book by Dr. Jerry Tennant titled Healing is Voltage. It's extremely eye opening about the field of cellular health and healing

.One of the most interesting parts of his book is about root canals. He makes the point that it is impossible to have a root canal that does not become the basis of a sub clinical infection. And depending on the tooth that infection spreads to different systems of the body.

I know it sounds like new age touchy feely tree hugger bullshit. But it's been researched rigorously outside of politically motivated and government supported studies. Which is why you've never heard of it.

But just do some looking yourself. Read the book. Learn about L-form bacteria which were discovered in the '30s. This is old research before the widespread political bias in scientific study.

Take care of your teeth. Removing one causes changes (difference in chewing forces, other teeth shift, bone density decreases) that can cascade into other problems in the future.

Spend the money on a root canal. The reason people talk about the pain is they delay and let the problem get bad before they address it. Then, take excellent care of your teeth and start saving for the eventual replacement.
