They both got used to these roles with time. My mother ordering and bitching about things with her irritating high pitch voice, my father staying silent and taking it.

When I'm home I call her out on her behaviour to my father and she reacts embarassed like she just that moment understood what she was doing (being an absolute pain in the ass).

I can imagine my father when younger tried to fight her attitude and then eventually realised that the best move was to stfu and take it. It's so sad.

My grandparents were married over 50 yrs. wonderful people. Love my grandmother. But man did she harangue my grandfather... no let up. Constant. this guy had worked as a master steam fitter most of his professional life. Surprised the asbestos didn't knock him off earlier.

He had "severe"hearing loss since before I was born. But as a little boy I found it weird he could hear every word I said the first time but would take grandmother 4-5 tries to get him to hear her. By the 5th attempt she was always pissed.

She complained his tv was too loud so dad got him a set of IR cordless ear phones (back in the early 90s). The smile on that mans face with his ear phones on with her nagging from the kitchen. That man knew damn well she was yelling at him but he'd blocked her out.id say something and he'd whip around and answer me the first time.

He also mowed the lawn (riding in his later years) at noon. This is the Deep South so it's hot. Looking back I think he was both trolling her and maybe helping nature along at the same time. She stand at the window muttering about himnkilling himself etc as he rode his pattern with a smile on his face.

Don't be fooled. Women have always been the same. And the older generations of men just found creative ways of dealing with them that suited their time.

my mom was amazing as a mom. I think she probably wasn't the best in the sack, but she seemed like she was probably a pretty good wife too. very intelligent. very well read. about as unicorn as you can find. had 5 kids and weighed 105lbs.

others praised her, and she was overall a good human and best example of what the female gender can be.

...fuck, she still found ways to endlessly nag. i am about as low key as you can get, and i was her favorite child, and yet she still found ways to nag me. saturday relax time, times when there was NO drama she's start something. it was never big. oh why don't you take out the trash right when i ask you. why don't you rinse off your dish before putting it in the dishwasher, just tons of small things. they didn't make me love her less, but it was easy to separate from it as a child, you're supposed to be able to get away with some stuff, to be lazy and just have your mom nag at you. but now that i'm older, i see this is how she was with my dad but i'm sure, even worse. they did stay married 25+ years so there was something good there, but looking back at how it ended, i know on his side of things the endless nagging and just beta attempt shit pushed him over the edge .my dad was pretty alpha type and decided he'd rather go get drunk and fuck random chicks then deal with a nagging wife at home.

he's an extreme example too because he was a Chad. and even when you have the unfaithful man, i see both sides are wrong, the man for cheating and women for pushing the man away by being UNABLE to love and continually trying to push him into orbiter beta mode.

i've dealt with it with women too. either you dominate them or you must deal with their nagging until you submit to them. it's why even almost unicorns aren't worth it. i've seen the most intelligent, well spoken and even caring women, but they always nag. they always have to have drama. there is no peace there. great in small doses, but yeah, dont' need to live with one.

Same with my father. He would spend his days off work alone in the garage. He couldn't stand her nagging. Now that I'm older, I call her out and defend him. He's very appreciative that I have his back.

I was married for 10 years. She was a hot sweetie and things were great for a few years, but then she slowly became a nagging bitch. It got to the point where I wondered, "Who the fuck am I married to and why!?" Had a great kid with her and I'm thankful for that, but things came to a head one day and I just told her, "I'm fucking out!" It took a lot to build up to that point, as I was a very patient man (though I don't seem to have much patience with people anymore).

I didn't end up losing too much and I have unfettered access to my kid every day, mainly because my ex wasn't a corrupted western woman (she's quite traditional, actually). In the end, though, OP is right; if they don't cheat on you and divorce you, they will become nagging old cunts.

Now I'm free and I do whatever the fuck I want, which is mostly working at my biz and building up my assets (never ever to be risked by entangling myself with a woman again!). I'm also planning a trip to Thailand to fuck my brains out, lol.

My mother nags the fuck out of my dad every day, but that's his problem. I guess he's too old to bother.

I think my dad has it best actually. He's in the same position as your dad, but when it comes to nagging, it's not so much of a problem anymore since he's deaf.
