Women (not feminists, just women) only care about two things: personal safety and resources (i.e. $$$). Both of those "Right now!". They do not care about economy, private companies, democracy, human rights, their neighbors or anything else that doesn't affect their short-term goals of getting their money, failing the company and safely bailing out with their golden parachutes. Trying to argue with them is a just a waste of time, IMHO.

They can try and force all they want, however a private company is just that, private.

What they will probably do is something along the lines of excluding those private companies from benefiting or receiving government contracts if they don't meet the gender distribution targets, and publicly shame those companies to try and bring them into line.

I cant legally see how that would work since this effectively becomes a discrimination case against men, violating their own Human rights Act, Section 21.1.a, so obviously they would need to amend the law to make this happen, and then be prepared for a fight in the court system on Human Rights grounds.

Seriously. If the government can dictate who owns the company, who's to say they don't simply own the company at that point? Just put forward two women and say "You have to choose between Comrade Katherine of the Women's Board of Investigation and Comrade Olga of the Department of Women's Rights."

If I was a medium to large sized company currently incorporated in NZ, I’d be quickly setting up an Australian office or subsidiary and doing a headquarters relocation or reverse merger ASAP. Guess where those corporate income taxes go after that?
