Most men in that position do one or more of the following:

1-Get a second job

2-Start a business somehow around the first job. Sometimes you have to do the first one to afford this second one.

3-learn a trade around work.

As you can see, they all involve sacrificing almost any me time you could have, but as with all things at some point you reach the end of that path and can bask in the rewards.

Another thing that is food for thought my dad told me when I was young. There are two ways to have more money. Earn it, or spend less of it. You might be able to leverage your money quicker if you can shave things out.

As suggested find a trade. You already said you've no problem getting dirty. Shop around for an apprenticeship. You'll still get paid shit for a few years, but you'll likely be working under an expert or master Tradesman.

Invaluable experience. The kind of shit you can't even get from a trade school teacher (because they know their shit too but they have criteria to meet).

Honestly I'm kind of moving up in my trade right now and there's a

WOMAN

of all things who really wants to learn it but I am stuck working production and can't show her. No I'm not interested in her funzone, but she is into the job.

Find someone to train you. We with the experience like it. Might even learn something ourselves. I have.

You could perhaps try upskilling? I joined websites that offer online courses for free/cheap like Coursera, Khan Academy, Udemy, etc to help me diversify my skillset. I majored in Commerce in university, so I never got a chance to go down the IT route. By taking some online classes, you can learn for free or you can pay a small fee like $25 bucks and get a certificate for completion provided you pass the final test. Add it with your resume to show that you can do more than just the one field you studied for.

It might help get you out of physically-demanding jobs as well.

Another route I can suggest is to go for some Data Entry jobs, or perhaps a Sales job. That helped me get out of physically exhausting work which I was also trapped in.

Do you have any idea of what you want to do? If you have a bunch of interests, maybe some good 'ol statistics will help to narrow it down.

If you're in the US, the bureau of labor statistics has something called the "occupational outlook handbook". They collect a bunch of information about occupations like average earnings, projected job growth, job descriptions, and what is required to get a specific job. It's a good place to go and get the gears turning if you may not know what direction you'd like to go. Good luck!

Change company or demand the raise. Don't ask demand and if they won't give you the raise go to a different company. It comes down to this the company wants to make as much as possible so they are going to pay you as little as you will accept so you have to make them pay for your work. If you are good they will give the raise but if you aren't then.... I'd also stay away from Union jobs you only get paid what the worst worker gets paid and then they tax you for the help. Or you could start your own company doing what you do now.

Princeton for undergrad and the Harvard for business school after a couple of years at Goldman special situations investment would get you out of poverty.

More realistically you need to honestly review your skills and aptitude. Go with your strengths. If you're bad at maths it's going to be pushing shit uphill to get a engineering degree. If you are a people person then sales. How driven are you? If you need motivation then probably not. Without being honest with yourself no suggestions her will be useful.
