Anyone else notice that when all these super heros debued they were strong masculine men who had wives (back when women were still socially castiagged into behaving properly) and over time marvel and DC have either destroyed those timelines or elsewise changed them? I'm pretty sure Spiderman was married up until a few years ago but not anymore.

Kind of an off-topic thing, but have you ever thought about why superheroes have girlfriends? Maybe it's just me, but personally, if I could swing around NY like Tarazan, juggle semi-trucks with one hand behind my back, and dodge bullets like Neo, I would feel no need to get into a relationship. Fuck the "balancing normal life and hero life" shit, just do the hero thing full time with no other commitments.

I mean think about it, if you were Spidey, would you rather spend your free-time with Mary Jane, or go web slinging around the city beating the shit out of villains like a badass? You'd think super-powered adventures would be far, far more satisfying than trying to squeeze in time for a redheaded thot.

Same goes for other heroes. If I had powers or a high tech suit of armor, I could think of about a million different stupidly fun activities I can do with them, and none of them involve romance.

"What's that Mary Jane? You're free tonight? What a coincidence, so am I, not a villain in sight. Too bad I'm going to go play baseball with the Avengers using my amazing spider powers instead of going on another sexless date with you. They're using steel girders as bats and wrecking balls as, well, balls. Go ahead, I dare you to tell me you can be more fun than that."

i could never stand mary jane in the classic 3 movies. i went back to rewatch them recently and cringed at most of the scenes with her... kind of ruined it partially.
