If you're a son to a mother, she might work to give you a God complex. It's in her genetic code as an organism to spread her genetics across the universe, thus if she raises you to walk over people, and bends over backwards to make you healthy and happy, her genetics have a higher chance of proliferating. depends. i was raise by a single mom and turned out great. but she actually was a caring mother. she also was married for 25 years so had some common sense. i was the last child to be born so even though i was raised by a single mom from age 5, she was way post wall and wasn't in slut mode. she was also a 50's tradcon so yeah, that helped i think.

the type of single mothers i see these days. omg, these kids are going to be fucked up. most single moms i know these days don't even seem to give a fuck about their kid, still going to clubs and doing dumb shit, OR if they care about the child, they fuck up its ego perception by using the kid on social media to feed their own ego and especially if its a daughter, teaching her she is the princess of the world just like mommy which raises an even worse generation of women.

I'd say it's definitely both, but it's probably more of the latter than the former. Kids (but especially boys) need positive male role models while growing up, and that is something they almost never get in a single mother household. And to make things worse, they're far more likely to experience physical and sexual abuse. So it should come as no surprise that the children of single mothers are going to be plagued with academic underachievement, substance abuse, mental illness and criminal behaviour.

I think more the latter, I believe for every child to have a good balanced childhood you need a father and a mother figure in your life. Its even better if they are your biological father and mother cause you can learn something from you own dna so to speak. For example a friend of mine learned that he had to really watch out with what he eat since both he parents have a tendency to get fat quickly. Anyway a father has a certain role to play in teaching the childeren as does the mother. When one parent tries to fullfill both roles it becomes way harder (ofcourse it can be done). The problem mostly is that father tend to put out a certain discipline a certain strictness and if necessary a certain punishment, also fathers especially for boys are the first super heroes so to speak. Fathers need to instill into their childeren a certain way on how to deal with the world. Therefore a terrible father will create really terrible childeren in that sense, if a father teaches its ok to hurt your sister then boys will keep doing that for example. Mothers are more there to teach childeren about emotions, how to be sympathetic and for boys how to deal with women. Now this is ofcourse not a strict divide, sometimes the father will fullfill more of the traditional mother tasks and vice versa, but the important thing is that you have 2 people fullfilling roles to raise a propper child. Also its very helpfull when two parterns can bounce ideas of eachother when a child shows certain behavior, and that you have a team which support the child instead of one single person.

So single mothers have it harder from the get go, no team of parents, need to fullfill both roles, and she need to adapt to a role which she might not be suited for. Well raised single fathers have it a bit easier, mostly because little boys will get enough contact with females growing up in the form of grandmothers, aunts, since women love little childeren and to spent time with them. So men do not necessarly have to fullfill the entire role a mother plays, also when a boy get raised by a man he will in most cases do fine with regard to criminal behavior and being a faillure at life, however he might experience other problems (intimacy issues for example).

One final point and this is about the pre existing condition of single mothers. Mostly single mothers tend to not be the most balanced persons in the world, especially when its a single mother who got pregenant by accident (so no divorce or widow). Sometimes these are daughters of single mothers which kind of leads to a slipery slope (single mom raises daughter which did not have the best possible childhood -> daughter becomes single mom which raises daughter which did have most likley a worse childhood then her ect ect.). And since men rarely get awarded custody of their childeren, these mothers which are already quite unbalanced raises childeren who turn out to be unbalanced quite often, which again might have childeren which do not have 2 parents ect. Single fathers (widows do not apply in this case) have to show they are good parents, have to work, provide, got far and beyond to prove they do a good job, since they are not simlly looked at as propper parents since they are not a women. Therefore single fathers might put in way more effort to not lose custody or being seen as a bad parent. So single fathers who actually get the child tend to not be unbalanced since they cannot afford to be.

To sum up, I think childeren are best of in a 2 parent household since both parents fullfill a role, there is more attention fo the child, and these parents can support eachother in decisions. However there is a case to be made about single motherhood being a predicate which aplies better to women with having a pre existing condition of being unbalance. So women are not worse at raising childeren persee, but single motherhood seem to fall more onto the women who are more likely to not be great at raising childeren.

A large part of it is respect imo. Most women fail to grasp that respect is earned, not given. Your son doesn’t respect you just because he dropped out of your vagina.

Young men crave leadership and since they don’t have anyone worthy of their respect at home they venture outside to find role models / a “family” unit.

The sad thing is that most criminal organisations / gangs etc offer this arrangement (which says so much about single mother homes).

I live with a single father, who never married and I would think I'm fine. I work at the greenhouse we own and are going to sell it to buy a lake shore house up in the north area of our state. I would say women just really fucking suck at parenting- especially coming from someone who was actually taken away from his mother for being negligent.

You need to understand why did she become single mother in the first instance. If it's by divorce (not often the case anymore), then there's nothing she can do about it. However, nowadays women are becoming single mothers by choice. They are only doing it for the funds and nothing else I believe. They are not taking the interest of the child, that's why children are given soooo much freedom and this leads to becoming spoiled brats.

I think that having two parents in the household will provide a child a balanced perspective on life. I honestly believe it gives kids a genuine understanding of the roles necessary to provide for a successful household in their own future. That being said, I never knew how blessed I was, coming out of a lower middle class household, with parents that have stayed together my whole life (they just celebrated their 61st anniversary). This became a very evident once I got out in the dating pool and saw what women were really like when they only had their mother's influence.

That being said, I have two great kids. How this has happened, I can't put my finger on it exactly. Only that they were lucky enough to have a two parent household. Sometimes you just have to be there when they need you.

I think it is also important to have the father around (or at least a positive male role model), especially for sons who need that male guidance. For girls, it can give them a better perspective on the type of man that they should look for in a lifelong partner, and hopefully make them understand men in a more balanced way. I think that single mothers, having made their own poor choices, will pass those flawed ideals to their own daughters.

I think that when single mothers have to go out and work, many kids only get half a parent, and don't get the full guidance and upbringing that they need to become worthwhile adults that contribute to society in general.

From people I know, it seems to be many fold reasons. Boys need a man in their life to help them learn to be a man. When it is a single woman raising a man, they try to go their own way (no pun intended) and end up failing. Secondly, when a woman is a single mom, she has to work usually multiple jobs. That means a child is usually left to their own devices. Idle hands..yada yada. Third, a child who feels as though his father abandoned him, will carry a lot of anger. Anger coupled with teen testosterone equals disaster. In many cases as men, we need to do better. Many men just simply walk away from their responsibility. Be there for your kids. Put it this way. I basically raised my mother, not the other way round. I was put in hospital twice by her neglect when I was too young but once I was old enough to understand, I did everything.

I looked after the house when she was away. I put her to bed when she was to drunk to do so herself. I cooked when she was sat on the living room floor sleeping off a hangover. I did the washing when she was busy watching TV or clubbing. And when I was old enough to work, I provided and she stayed home.

If not for being able to see my dad every one in a while, and being strong willed enough to get out of there, I'd 100% be living a life of crime or be dead. My dad raised me on the weekends and I raised my self weekdays. That's how it had to work.

I wish I could say I got out of that hellhole in one piece but I didn't. I never got a childhood and I'll resent that for a very long time.

I think a woman could be a good mother but only when kept in check properly by a father, and that isn't possible in today's world which is why we're seeing these fatherless young men losing out on so much. My dad actually grew up with a pretty crazy mom and no father. I feel see the sadness and regret in his eyes whenever his childhood is mentioned.
