Many banks and credit unions now have small loan accounts tied to a persons checking account as overdraft protection, so I don't really feel any sympathy for this woman. It's her own damn fault for not learning how to use and keep track of her expenditures in a checkbook if she's not smart enough to make mental notes of them all. "forgetting" about a check you wrote two weeks ago to pay for day care isn't the banks fault.
