I'm going to guess that the teacher is in the Triggered Studies Department?
[–][deleted] 64 points65 points66 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Definitely ain't astrophysics.
[–]ZealousMathematician18 points19 points20 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Thank god not astrophysics. I don’t have to worry about co-authoring a thesis with this dude ever.

How much education do you think you'll be getting from a sexist racist?
[–][deleted] 15 points16 points17 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
I've learned a lot just reading that tweet.
[+][deleted] 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
[–]ManIsWalking2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Idk, man. I don't really see any put downs to education itself, all I'm seeing is a teacher who is listing the demographics they call on for questioning of the curriculum. Unless you're making the assumption that this tweeter is making an assumption that all white men are Republican, this has very little to do with politics, and alot to do with sjw virtue signalling.
[+][deleted] 8 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
[–]WoahScienceCool2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Tell that to the liberals who feel the need to ALWAYS infuse politics into everything- especially college courses.
[–][deleted] 16 points17 points18 points 8 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link
Home school and trades. Soon trades will be racist towards white men.
[–][deleted] 15 points16 points17 points 8 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
Doubtful. Trades actually require people who are competent and industrious.
[+][deleted] 8 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
It’s pretty hard on the bottom line though. A lot of the areas where these femtards flourish are sectors notorious for fiscal inefficiencies. I’m not saying it couldn’t happen, but I live in a very blue collar area and it’s rare to see a female tradesperson.
[–]ZealousMathematician1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
No what’s more likely than the bottom line being sjw-ified is the jobs being lost to robots. Unless custom work is done, i think that day is approaching.
[–]WoahScienceCool6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
This is a meme. It will happen sooner or later, sure, but with the exception of the manufacturing industry (which is gutted in the US already anyways), white collar jobs such as those specializing in Accountants and Computer Science will be the very first to go, even some sectors of Engineering. What do you honestly think is going to be easier to achieve in the short term? Self-driving trucks that safely navigate within heavy traffic while delivering loads on time and in one piece, and Terminator-like bipedal androids carrying heavy loads, putting parts together perfectly and turning pipe wrenches to meet tight deadlines, or some automated machine that can be programmed to crunch numbers, write code or measure dimensions? Yeah, I'll go with the latter. Hell, even blockchain technology projects such as Ethereum are well on their way to making bank accountants, lawyers and notaries obsolete in many aspects of life via automated Smart Contracts. In the long term, very few jobs will be safe, sure, but if you think you're gonna be spared from automation because you sit at a desk all day clicking away on a keyboard, well, I got some bad news for you. With exceptions, these jobs are going to be hit the hardest.
[–]dem_paws3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Self-driving trucks that safely navigate within heavy traffic while delivering loads on time and in one piece, and Terminator-like bipedal androids carrying heavy loads, putting parts together perfectly and turning pipe wrenches to meet tight deadlines, or some automated machine that can be programmed to crunch numbers, write code or measure dimensions? Yeah, I'll go with the latter.
I'll go with the first. If humans are struggling to write the code to automate stuff then they sure as hell can't write code that can write code that automates stuff (applies to anything somewhat difficult fwiw). Low skill compsci jobs are mostly offshored anyways. Even efforts to outsource/offshore more difficult stuff keeps failing. The company I work for keeps getting contracts for developing stuff that simply failed elsewhere, especially in India etc. because the topics are difficult and the language barrier, timezone difference, culture difference are too high. So customers wasted some money and lots of valuable time and they are suddenly happy to spend the money to have it done here. As for AI: I'm in my early thirties, worked in AI research for 3 years after University. I'm not at all worried about AI taking high skill comp sci jobs before I retire.
[–]curiouslyengaged2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Exactly. AI is a lot more complex than people think looking from the outside. There are limits to human cognition so unless we make AI program itself we cannot reach the levels required for some of these jobs. Even if AI can program itself who is to say they'll come up with anything useful since it cannot relate to humanity.
TLDR; I'm not worried either

But I'm sure they will bring in a quota system soon to trades

Nah, racism goes out the window when you find yourself knee deep in shitwater or when the power cuts out. Unless you're suggesting that women are fine with working in an attic during the heat of the summer, or buring their arms elbow deep into a soild toilet...
[–]Takakazu_Kinashi1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why the hell are these twitter account usernames always censored? If someone posts something on the internet, whether its under their real life identity or not, then the post is open to the public, period. Someone wants to post something stupid? Then its the public's right to name and shame them. If someone tweets something on twitter, they clearly dont care who see's it, so why the censorship of the username?

The solution to this problem is to not take gender studies classes
[+][deleted] 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
[–]jkarovskaya1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
It's very pervasive in colleges now.
The diversity awareness, inclusion, ally training, affirming gender, observing gender pronouns, and promoting intersectional feminism is rampant, and growing daily.
I predict some colleges will switch to all women student bodies again

[–]jkarovskaya0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'd actually love that. Bring back male camaraderie and let girls rot.
That's not how it would go. The current people in power over education and the rest of the world would turn it into the gay fantasy of male boarding school and there would be no camaraderie. Just buggering, molestation and suicides.
This is what liberalism looks like.
[–]rebuildingMyself2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
True, but it's not enough that these classes fester in colleges already. Now they are forcing students to take at least a semester or two of this shit in order to graduate.
[–]jkarovskaya8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Update for you guys in college. Keep track of how your profs and TA's treat you in class, and who's getting the attention and grade curve favoritism
I had a VP of IT directly over me who was blatant about hiring women, even really unqualified women. I was on a committee for hiring for a webdev, and we had to make her back down from hiring a dollar store clerk
[–]ZealousMathematician1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
So this clerk couldn’t even code. Wtf? Was she hoping this store clerk was an Ada Lovelace on steroids who could learn front end programming in a months time?
WTH!

O.o. My personal experience is fixing general windows os, Mac OS, chrome is, and now Linux os computers. I touched html, css, Swift, JavaScript, python. I’m currently in a course in c++. I’ve read on ides before but don’t know frames. However I’ve looked into other things as well. Lol.

ok
[–]EndlessPontification1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yup, modern education is a complete scam, and college is the worst since it requires you to pay absurd amounts of money for the privilege of doing a bunch of arbitrary work and memorizing textbooks.
[–]aretardation0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
How can she still have a job after posting this? That's a serious question. If I was at this school and had her class I would take this directly to the school and ask why I'm paying so much money to take a class where my teacher is openly saying she will hinder my ability to participate in the class I'm paying for based on my gender and race. I'd also want to know if they felt that a person with that type of attitude could be trusted to grade me fairly. Then I'd ask if school policy allowed one of their educators to give student of a certain race or gender special treatment over others.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
if school policy allowed one of their educators to give student of a certain race or gender special treatment over others.
you're kidding right? that is ABSOLUTELY the policy.
The doublethink of 'we need discrimination to combat discrimination': "The concept of affirmative action was introduced in the early 1960s in the United States, as a way to combat racial discrimination in the hiring process, with the concept later expanded to address gender discrimination.[11] " https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affirmative_action#United_States
[–]aretardation1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
I'm aware of all the affirmative action stuff but this seems blatantly different. This comes from what I've heard called "acceptable discrimination". It's the idea that by discriminating against a group viewed as privileged it really only levels the playing field. I can't imagine ANY school official admitting to this being acceptable practice at their school in regards to actual class. It's is too easily a bait type question that you could then follow up with saying "if a white teacher posted this in the opposite order would it be acceptable still?" Of course the answer would be no.
That leaves them with saying that is not an acceptable thing for a professor to say at which point I would ask that she be fired.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
this seems blatantly different.
seems like the logical extension of it to me - admissions, and now curriculum, include overt discrimination
[–]aretardation2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
It does and is, I just don't think a school official could ever admit that it has bled beyond. Again it would too easily be able to get turned around on them, open the school up to a lawsuit
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Trad cons get criticized, not these cultural marxists.
[–]aretardation1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Ahh, I gotcha. And i agree, but people can't be worried or scared to be criticized for an unpopular or not politically correct statement. If we can't do that things like mens rights have no chance of ever improving
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I've always been vocal, but recently I've become convinced this sort of shit is just a human cycle that repeats itself, and it will get worse before it gets better - the problem can't be fixed, it will destroy itself.
[–]rebuildingMyself0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It would really be nice if every un-closeted bigot like this was fired, but I guess as long as it's the "good" kind of bigotry it's fine.
[–]DigitalScetis0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If I was a student that isn't "always called," and I saw this tweet, I'd call a lawyer. I'd then file a Title IX complaint, with my lawyer in tow. If that doesn't redress this problem, I'd pursue whatever other means we may have (appeal to Title IX office in DC). If that doesn't redress this problem, perhaps there may be grounds for a (literal) federal case.
