Civilization happened. I've got a paved street at the end of my driveway, plowed every time we get a couple inches of snow. Hot water when I open a tap, central heating, a refrigerator full of food. I don't even have to wash fucking dishes. That's what dishwashers are for. If I want to go anywhere I don't hitch up a horse. I turn the key on my heated and air conditioned vehicle, which takes me anywhere for cheap. Also my XBox gives me virtual worlds to wander in, stabbing virtual pigs et al with zero risk to my person.

In a world like that, nobody needs hunters, crop growers or firewood choppers, or cabin builders. Just affirmative action to finagle their way into cushy HR jobs. We need an army of (female) people to work on the Very Serious Problem of sexual harassment in the workplace.

I was in a clothing store a few days ago, buying a shirt for a funeral so I could wear a tie with my suit. Plenty of other guys in there accompanied by a wife . I bet if they'd been on their own could've gotten sorted in no time, but I've never allowed a wife or girlfriend to dictate what I'm going to wear. Certainly not the hangdog expression these guys had.
