I have similar setup, but not so isolated as that, I'm in Southern New England.

nearest town is 12 miles from my house and work shops on 40 acres of woods and fields, with my own trout brook

For any you MGTOW brothers that can stand the long winter and the cold (-25 F on occasion) consider far northeastern Vermont, otherwise known as Northeast Kingdom

You can still buy 20 acres and a small camp or run down house for US $100,000 or even less depending on how far out it is, condition, and what kind of road it's on

Buying raw land is trickier, because of Vermont's very tough septic laws which in most cases mandate you have power, a pressurized water system, and a full septic system to build a camp or house.

Buying existing places can get you around that because they are "GRANDFATHERED", and are exempt.

Some towns might let you get away with a composting toilet. Hunting cabins might have different rules again, depending on local ordinance. Don't believe what real estate agents tell you, find out by going to the town offices, and find out what's legal for low end living.

If you have the $, I've seen ads for really nice houses with great workshops on 25 acre parcels for $200K

Great post. I'd like to buy land in two or more locations. Not to build a house but to buy a cheap used trailer and leave it there. Take my portable solar, computer, other equipment with me when I leave and set it up in the next location.
