So fellas today I went in for a physical as part of my application for TSA. Standard stuff and all but the gem of it was the conversation I had with my doctor. Now I had never been to this place before and this guy and I had never spoken either.
I sat in the room waiting for my doctor. He came in. An elder black man using a wooden walking stick with a rubber handle. Not a cane but something you'd use while hiking or something. Immediately greets me with a smile and we shake hands. He begins to sign the documents necessary and we get into small talk. Where I'm from, what I'm studying, what job I'm applying for stuff like that.
After the pleasantries are done he brings up father's day and how it tends to be overshadowed by kids graduating. "Grads and Dads" as he put it. Going over how IF you're lucky you'll get a card MAYBE a dinner, and a whole lot of lip from people the day after when YOUR day is done. Basically how if something is done it's your fault and/or you have to fix it.
He told me about his first ever girlfriend and how he proposed to her 3 different times and she said no. The main thing he wanted was children. The age old carry on the legacy and be a great dad ordeal. Trust me I used to think the same way but not anymore after being on here a while.
Then we talk about women and how they get 4 or 5 days a year where they get stuff: Valentines, mother's day, christmas, thanksgiving, birthdays, stuff like that. And how it would be nice if we got the whole month to be father's month. With at least one gift a week would be sufficient.
He went on about how he did get married and divorced with that woman later. Had 2 kids and that when he was single his ex gf messaged him saying how he was so sweet and that she wanted to get back together. He said no because he likes his freedom and that he doesn't have to look after his kids anymore now that they're older.
We agreed it's better to be single and enjoy life. He filled out my paperwork and wished me luck. Really great guy. He said he was 72 years old and would only live to be 85 due to the stress these women gave him when he could've easily made it to 100. Anyway just wanted to share that. Have a great Thursday guys. Off to my nephew's graduation.
Never forget!!! GYOW
