Yeah the idea is to "settle" Women spend their prettiest and most pleasant years chasing guys who excite them . Most of these guys won't commit to the woman because they don't have to . They can have sex with her and do basically all of the fun stuff with her and she's more than happy to do all of that with him with the idea in the back of her mind she may be able to hook him or get him interested enough in her to stick around . For most women this will not work , some will have a baby with this guy and he'll " man up" and take responsibility then they'll have a quiet boring life and she'll get bored of him one day but this is the minority.

Most women will date a guy who they have no real hope of locking down , they may even have a baby with him and he will still move on . Heartbreak and heart ache happen, she does her own thing for a while before repeating the same cycle ( trying to win a guy over and failing) over and over again .

Most women repeat that cycle through their late teens and early 20's. Once they get to the late 20's and early 30's they start to realize they have a harder and harder time keeping the interest of the hot exciting guy past one night , he might have dated her for a few months or even years before but now? If he even stays to the morning it's a miracle .

Her priorities have now shifted out of necessity, the exciting hot guys don't stick around, she sees her friends and maybe even sisters having kids , possibly getting married , it's starting to make her think maybe she's defective.

"How come SHE ( former slutty sorority sister) is married and I'm not?" , " Why would he ( former attractive guy she didn't pay much attention to) choose to have a baby with her and I sit here childless ?" .

She makes up in her mind that the next guy she dates has to have a different focus, she's dated , fucked, and partied with cute exciting guys for a long while but now what she wants is a Life ...a real Actual life like the moms / wives on TV . She sees she can't get that from the hot/ exciting guy but maybe that kind of annoying guy who's not totally ugly at work and keeps asking her out on dates will do ?

That's why they call it settling , it's a woman coming to the point where she sets her standards ( exciting hot guys) to the side for the sake of growing up and having a family with the first decent guy who will present it to her. He may not be as exciting as her former boyfriends, or as handsome, not as well traveled, or fun , he doesn't get her wet past her playing the fantasies in her mind about how he'll make an " honest woman" out of her but he'll do for a husband .

If you can tell though these are all terrible reasons to want anything in life. To need to be married to prove you aren't defective? To stay with somebody who you only appreciate as a vehicle to the title of wife/ mom ? To chase a vision of what the mom/ wife looks like without understanding the reality? All horrible motivations but women do it all the time and they regret it ...and they take out that regret on the poor guy who just wanted to love her because before he represented an opportunity to become something more ... over time he becomes an unpleasant ball and chain holding her down .

Yes , yes it's true women marry men that they are not attracted to and the reasons are all selfish . The man feels like a " winner" when really he's just the pedestal that the trophy( his wife) sits on top of .

The woman will always want something from you (time or money).

What's the reasoning behind this.

Sexual attraction isn't the reason women marry. Women marry for the resources and security of child rearing. They have such a strong instinctual desire for security (evolutionary to provide for children) that it overrides every other consideration when choosing a long term partner.

Their sexual partners however are instinctively chosen based a completely different set of criteria.

I came across a term called 'pair bonding'. Basically, women form an emotional connection with the guy who takes her virginity. With second guy, she has less emotional connection. And so on. By 5th guy, her ability to bond with the guy has disappeared. It means that women with high notch count fails to form any kind of connection (from her side) with a guy.

Women with high notch count will marry a guy without any attraction because they can't feel any.

Women are just like you OP. They want what's "best". Now we all know this means, looks, money and status but there are also other things, depending on the individual. If you don't have these you are just an orbiter aka someone she tolerates but not really values, or (at best) an emotional tampon for her.

Not only that but if you have zero "use" for a woman (from the above) she won't bother with you at all (Briffault's Law). You are expendable and you better believe this and accept this now. She has at least a dozen other orbiters she's found through social media. Who you are as a person doesn't matter at all. Zero.
