I'm an Absurdist, so I find MGTOW to perfectly fit my worldview. I find that most of the sadness and anger, aside from just being lied to by everyone for so long about what's important, is from same tension that Absurdism lampoons: the insistence of the human mind for meaning in a universe where there is none. It's up to men to find the subjective meaning in their lives, a meaning which is self-serving but also worthwhile. This to me is the essence of going your own way.

I think it is depressing and fucking sucks, yes. I hate being MGTOW but also feel there aren't many other alternatives. The only choice I have is to finish my investing career BEFORE marriage, separate out my assets, get prenup signed by both me and my wife who will have it looked over by her lawyer, and I can then be ready for a divorce. But at least I will get my kids out of it. Maybe...

Alternatively, I will hit $19,000 saved in a couple weeks which is fuckin awesome.

I’m not “going MGTOW” so much as refusing to play the role of beta provider. I’ll provide for myself and would happily share my world if it were a partnership. The reality of what I see before me is sad, lonely, and heartbreaking. So I’ve walked away from the reality of all I’ve ever known and still struggling to create a new reality. I don’t believe I’m easily built for solitude. I love my own space but it feels empty without others in my world. Damned if I do, damned if I don’t. So I’m forging ahead trying to make something different. I envy those fellow men who have a content life of solitude. It still escapes me.

I see your point and I understand what you are saying. But I disagree that life itself is miserable now that we've seen the reality of things. What's miserable is that the illusion we originally bought into has shattered and parts of ourselves still long for it. That's where your pain is coming from. And that's understandable as the deferred life-plan of a wife, 2.5 kids, and a house with the white picket fence at the end of the cul-de-sac has been indoctrinated into our minds as the ultimate goal we can achieve since childhood. Now, it looks like there's no viable option to happiness beyond what we've been lead to believe but that's not true. The truth is we now have the opportunity to define happiness for ourselves. It may seem daunting, but over time it becomes a blessing. We have the freedom to chase our muse in whatever way it expresses itself. It's a fact that we have to exert a good amount of effort to define happiness for ourselves now, but it certainly can be done. I'd say start with cultivating a craft; something you can hone and give your time to. You'll find a wonderful joy in it as you grow your skill and you'll frequently enter a state of flow when you push the expanding boundaries of your ability. It can be anything: a sport, an instrument, a game, an art, anything. Next, find time to contribute to something larger than yourself/help those in need. You are right that at the macro-level there is no sense of community as our culture is too divisive and tribal. But there's a sense of contentment that lasts a long time when you're spending time doing something that has a positive impact on others. I volunteer at the local food assistance shelter and it feels really great to know that families are fed because of my efforts. Ultimately, happiness really is an individualistic pursuit because it's cultivated from within. Otherwise, we wouldn't see happy poor/single/ordinary people and miserable rich/married/famous people. The external conditions often have very little to do with the internal state of mind. I'd be happy to talk if you ever need an ear.

Why hate it? It’s not what we were raised to believe is “happiness” but what we were indoctrinated into is definitely not happiness.

Just to echo a theme here, you have control as MGTOW. You’re not enslaved by the female, the needs of the family, etc. it’s all too often that the appeal of a standard secular family isn’t what you actually experience as the dad/husband. You get smothered in responsibilities and no one returns you the favor.

History is full of stories of freedom and oppression and what people have been willing to do to escape their oppression. None that escaped oppression had an easy way out. MGTOW is young and evolving. I hope it becomes a norm and widely accepted one day.

I feel the same way. Mgtow sucks. Everything else sucks more. Its tiring. Chasing happiness is pointless. As a goal anyway. I try to find what suits me, feed my interest. Do things i like. Getting things done. Bring order to chaos. Happiness is a byproduct. There is no finish line.

I agree with everything you say about society today. Most importantly the family aspect. Today in western society, it feels like almost all families are in shambles. I've friends who come from more traditional countries and it doesn't seem quite like that. Their mentalities are very much like how it is in the godfather movies; family is everything. If it wasn't for the family aspect of modern western society I'd likely have no issues going MGTOW at my current age.

Anyway, I'm still quite young and I'm not 100% committed to MGTOW quite yet. I genuinely believe that there still are women with good values, honour etc. I've told myself that if I do find a woman who does seem reasonable and who shares the same values as I, I will give it a go. Perhaps it's the lack of family life that has me undecided, I'm not too sure. Regardless, I will explore my options and if I don't find what I'm looking for then I will be 100% devoted to religion, going my own way and the family I do have.

Does this sound idyllic and fun? Probably not, but it is what it is.

What you describe is kind of existential crisis imo. Look into Nietzche. You were sold an utopian dream you cannot live by society. Embrace life hardships and look into and love yourself.

OP, I was where you are now a little over two years ago.

I began to experience something called synchronicity. It started when I was spending a lot of time on 4chan.

Random numbers aren't as random as they appear.

This led to studying the occult. Eventually, to religious experiences and a return to belief.

Look into simulation theory, the Copenhagen interpretation, double slit experiment, quantum eraser experiment, and the stigma surrounding psi research.

The world is not what you think it is.

But, even if it was... Just because the world isn't what you want it to be doesn't relieve you of the responsibility to live your life to the fullest.
