In my post-grad classes (gigantic waste of two years) a couple teachers -- and this is in a state university, mind you -- discussed the state of teaching in various learning institutions. High school is largely off-limits for men, but everything under (especially elementary school) is strongly recommended against by even the most open minded, "progressive" professionals in the field. They generally said the same thing: "If a man enters elementary school nowadays he is inviting sexual abuse cases, and everyone knows it. It doesn't matter if he's a hardcore religious asexual eunuch, he will have regular sexual assault cases from students' parents and is seen as a liability for the school system."
That's why the only male teachers in elementary school are those that have already been there for years. Anyone else without a suicide wish would avoid teaching below high school level.
