Means nothing. Nfl is the definition of capitalism at its finest. Qualifications and reputation is what it runs on. They would not touch a female GM if she isn't qualified. This is just to get some more women excited for the Super Bowl and make them forget that the players are retiring at age 27 with the brain of an 80 yo.

Amy Trask was the CEO for the Raiders during the Al Davis days. No idea how successful she was.

That being said, if they are qualified, I see no issue. Most GMs have experience playing some football, so I doubt women would be in those exec spots. But giving someone an interview due to some arbitrary feature is fucking retarded.

If you follow the NFL closely you'll see that the Rooney Rule is already no more than lip service. If you want to go out and hire Mike Shanahan you can -- all you have to do is track down some low-profile coach or coordinator who's a minority and bring them in for a hasty interview, too (this is exactly what the Redskins did a few years back). No one is forced to hire someone they don't want to.

The rule exists to give minority candidates a shot at the job, not the job itself.

You know, my backwater here in Europe might be poor compared to America, but at least society here is virulenty against this bullshit. We have a few feminist politicians and even people on the left laugh at their bullshit. If the football league declared they wanted gender quotas in FC management, the laughter would crumble a few stadiums.
