This is just your usual 'showerthought' (i.e. coming from many quality seconds of thought) type speculation, but this is what happens when a generation of men reach maturity with unlimited access to porn.

Sex for guys used to be as much about their own pleasure, they were at least an active participant in their own fantasies. Now the act of visual degradation is the main focal point. The more explicitly and visually the receiver is used and abused, the more compelling the porn. So now it's about their object of desire being hammered by anonymous dicks. The entire 'cuckold' theme is mainly about men learning to fetishise their feelings of hurt and jealousy in order to get at this visually exciting prospect of a woman they care about acting out the porn roles ingrained by hundreds of hours of video.

The fact it's rolled around at the same time as casual hookup apps and online dating is probably no coincidence.

I think the healthiest thing that young men can do is to stop viewing so much porn and go and observe the real women in their life, but that's so much easier said than done. Telling a teenaged boy not to look at an infinite supply of novel, exciting, addictive material would be like telling him not to be human.

I am just glad there are communities around that recognise this isn't a standard for relationships.
