That article is completely wrong from a Christian perspective, in every single thing he says. The sole reason for marriage Biblically is because you're too horny not to fuck. Just tell these idiots to read 1st Corinthians ch 7.

It says things like:

It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman.” 2 But since sexual immorality is occurring, each man should have sexual relations with his own wife, and each woman with her own husband.

The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife. 5 Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

This directly contradicts part of that article.

Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I do. 9 But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.

So yeah, the author of that article is just an idiot.

Well I am not religious, but I guess one way a religious person could formulate it is the trade-sex-for-emotions is a correct description of a natural, pagan marriage, but Christians are supposed to be a bit above natural urges and directed by supernatural stuff.

It also worths mentioning that "pagan" originally means rural person. The Roman version of the redneck. Yes, I am not very sex crazed either and function more human than that, but that is largely because I don't spend my days struggling with nature, agricultural problems, angry cattle, and bandits like a literal paganus, a rural person two thousand years ago would do. We are urban, we are civilized, that changed us to some part, softened, made more poetic. But not fully. There are more cavemanly urges lurking below that. Go to the bedroom, wake up the caveman in you, then next day wake up as a civilized urban person again. Why not?

TRP is much closer to Christianity's views of men and women than most people here realize, but there is still a big gap. The gap is that the Bible says there are worldly things and godly things. All this shit we have to deal with today as men --- feminism, hypergamy, divorces, etc. --- these are "worldly" problems. They stem from human nature. No matter how much we try, we can never eliminate those forces in the world because they're built into us. TRP knows this. Christians know this too. It's sometimes called original sin. The best, they say, we can do on this Earth is model our behavior as close as possible to an ideal, God, and hope that when we die there is a world waiting for us where all these worldly problems are gone and what's left is a beautiful truth. To believe that is called faith.

What the author is getting at in the article, and what the Bible teaches, is that there's another way besides our nature. In the same way that you might visualize yourself being a better version of you, Christians do the same. Except their model is a man who claimed to be God 2000 years ago and, according to record, never sinned. The author, as I take it, is saying he's choosing to reject his biological programming --- to control the temptation of sex. He's not pre-programmed. (And this is nothing like blue pill as BP is still sex-driven) If you want theory, by reducing the importance of sex, that's less power the woman has over you, and that's crucial since the Bible says men must be dominant in the relationship.

It doesn't matter how right our theories are. Unless we come up with a long term solution, the conversation will never end. A Christian will look at RP issues as examples of what goes wrong with the world when God isn't your center. So that's the frame you'll face going in if you try to respond :)
