I used to be mostly alpha and happy. I worked hard, was successful, ran my own business, traveled often, lived in baller pads around the world, alternated between spinning plates and happy monogomous relationships, and had a keen sense of humor.

Things were going well and I had never heard of TRP nor really needed it (though I could have learned much from it).

Then last summer I was diagnosed with cancer. Holy fucking shit, all that good stuff that goes along with being successful, funny, healthy etc all goes to shit when dealing with all kinds of surgeries and medications. I fucked up my business, stress and mental acuity declined sharply during the fight. Things did not go well.

I lost my sense of humor. I became a repellent to women. Charm, wit, gone. Hospital bills were crushing (surgeons and docs deserve that money, not complaining).

In any case, many of these posts served as guidance to re-learn the things that made me the man I was and to go several steps beyond to become better.
Step 1- Get healthy (often simplified on this forum as simply "lift").

There's many other steps but this one was crucial, especially coming out of a fight with cancer. I went from Batman Begins Bale to Machinist Bale. Not the kind of transformation that women often go for.

But alas, Christian Bale actually transformed his actual body from the Machinist to superhero shape in something like 4 months. I read an article about it once in Men's Health I think.

And so, I pushed myself hard to get healthy. 5k runs daily plus lifting on alternate days. I may not be back to alpha shape I used to be in, but a huge amount of progress has been made. Many thanks to those who posted fitness tips here and emphasized said fitness.

Step two was a little bit more difficult. How does one with cancer issues communicate with women? Well, I can't speak for everyone, but I was feeling really shitty from surgeries or meds or diminished success, and that really communicated a lot of weakness.

I honestly thought I was going to get a lot of sympathy sex. Nope. Women don't even see you if you're weak. If you're self pitying, you're invisible and disgusting.

It was really a jarring process. It's not like I had much time to be devoted to girls or anything, but girls can sense these things really well.

It's a strange feeling to go from an 8 SMV to like a 1 or 0. And by strange I mean depressing. Which typically brings the SMV down further, downward spiral like.

Anyway, step 1 pretty much achieved, I finally went on a successful date last night. I was actually surprised by myself being witty and charming. I thought the date would go poorly, but those good chemicals in the brain (T?) that come from working out hard in the gym actually changed my personality.

Then there's a bunch of other really excellent things I picked up reading here that helped the date go really well. Whereas I may have had some natural alpha tendencies on dates before, I had to relearn them from scratch in order for the date to go well. Reading posts here these last months have opened my eyes in many ways. Many many great contributors here. So thank you.

I still have much progress to go. My business is dead and I'm broke AF (which is a wholly new experience for me since high school when I started working) but I do have many skills and ways to contribute to society. Need to work hard to rebuild many other facets of my life but so far this was an excellent start.

I may not have mentioned in my rambling story that I seem to be in the clear for now from cancer, my doctors seem to have done an excellent job at doing what they do.

But unfortunately cancer is a little bitch and likes to come back to fuck you up, not unlike a psycho ex-gf who periodically will look you up to key your car.

bold Lesson Learned: Don't get cancer. If you do, don't be a whiny little bitch and expect sympathy sex. Women don't give a shit about you if you're weak. Fight like hell to get healthy again and be successful.
