This show has been dead for me since Tennant. Even then it was anti-straight/white/male with the Queer as Folk dude as producer. Lesbian dinosaur women, the gay christian marines, Captain Jack (I'm bi-barely), Torchwood/Touch-Wood. Christ, remember miracle day? The villain is a giant vagina in the earth's crust that can only be killed by being double-penetrated by a gay man's blood. Then they threw all the race mixing in (which is fine but was clear they had an agenda with so much of it). This final nail in the coffin was more than just inevitable. It reeks of desperation.

I've been a fan of the Doctor Who series since the Tom Baker days. And every time they have changed the Doctor, there has been a great hue an cry about how the new Doctor will kill the series because they are no longer:

William Hartnell Patrick Troughton Jon Pertwee Tom Baker Peter Davison Colin Baker Sylvester McCoy Paul McGann Christopher Eccleston David Tennant Matt Smith etc.

It's the same thing as when Chris Pine took on the role of Captain James T. Kirk. So many people said that the Abramverse was going to kill of Star Trek....I still prefer Shatner's Kirk...but Pine didn't doom the role or the franchise to death, either.

A female lead for Doctor Who has been in the works since the early 1980s, when it was recommended by Sydney Newman, the guy responsible for the creation of Doctor Who.

Besides, I would much rather fantasize about being a Companion to Jodie Whittaker as The Doctor...

not that it matters but I'm a grill and even I'm severely disappointed. doctor who was my favourite show. becoming a female makes no sense for the character. not even if I were to find a way to twist the story so that gender fluidity was allowed - it would of had to be done long long long ago. doctor who isn't the same anymore and im talking about a show that has had several actors for the same role - this is just beyond fucked and im really sad I won't be enjoying it anymore as my father did before me.
