Just to preface this post, society as a whole hasn't given up on marriage and companionship, but things are getting harder for women.

I've noticed a trend of high value men (good looking doctors, lawyers, engineers from good families) expect something from their partners. In the past (70's and 80's) you just needed a pretty face and a nice body to attract these types of men and be their housewife. Very recently though, almost ALL these men want women that make at least 70% of what they do. And they won't marry someone past 30.

And considering career women are increasingly taking high value jobs, these men are the female equivalent of a unicorn. The supply of these guys shrinks daily and the competition for them keeps growing.

I can't wait to see where this goes in 10 years. The days of being a high power business man's housewife are over. And it's just getting worse.
