I remember reading, I think it was Shoepenhauer who stated that if women were truly interested in art they'd at least try to be great painters and cooks and yet all painters and cooks even have usually been men. It made sense.

Now, the art of cooking....man I love it. It may sound strange but as I grow older the meaning and purpose of life means less and less. I've seen completely clean men die of throat cancer and just last week my Uncle passed away of a heart attack- and he was incredibly fit and agile with a good physique. He was 53. So I wonder why not just eat and smoke and get drunk- I mean you got to go someday anyway right?

Which leads me to how much enjoyment and true happiness I get from eating- and especially when I cook. Cooking for myself whether it be a big steak piece or steamed prawns or a leg of chicken makes me feel good- I consider it an art form. There are so many amazing recipes to learn and apply. I love it- the act of cooking be it steam or barbecue or stir fry, and the act of eating.

Women on the other hand I notice- especially among the new generation despise cooking. At least my mother's generation I knew several women who were great cooks, I barely see any women take an interest in cooking- even for themselves. Heck, some of them find it demeaning.

Isn't it strange? How can you not want to learn a beautiful art form- which you yourself will critique and enjoy later. And I find so many guys who love to cook. Its a great skill. A virtue even
