How much of the total income of the United States is generated by men, and how much is generated by women?

The split in income should reflect the split in production: if employers could systematically get away with paying women less for the same production, they'd only be hiring women until full female employment was reached, which it isn't.

Sociology influences this metric in ways not easily tabulated.

Here's a personal example of what I mean. I had a job once where me and a woman were both offered a transfer position . It meant doing the same job elsewhere in the same company.

Taking the position meant a permanent salary cut in the short term, but it offered a better quality of life due to daytime hours and faster promotional opportunities. Owing to the salary problem I declined the post.

The chick took it because the shift change meant she had a better social life and could work under a male beta she could control- but she ate a 12.5% pay cut and was promoted twice at 8% , which means I made more money then she did after only being promoted once in the same time span.

For her, socially speaking it made sense- by transferring she could work under a boss she could control versus the female supervisor we had, and maybe even branch swing. But from a financial perspective it was a shitty move.

If someone sat down and recorded our pay rates without the social context, they might say she's being "underpaid" compared to me.Theyd be wrong.

Women don't view work the same way men do. They view it as a status and socialization zone, not necessarily as a means to maximize revenue. Which tracks because females don't work a day job for money: that's what Johnny Betabux is for. They clock in daily for a chance to socialize with other women, feel important, and maybe get a shot at branch swinging to the VP/Area Manager/ District Vice Prez/ etc.

For guys the decision matrix is a lot more linear, especially for the Betabuxes with a mortgage and two kids to feed. Moar money, all the time, by hook or crook.

So without social context , a survey or data spread comparing male/ female pay rates doesn't tell you jack shit. It could be because women are systematically being paid less (the PC version).

Or it could be because females self-select jobs which maximize hypergamous social options at the expense of numeric salary & compensation. Needless to say the latter is the hypothesis I'm backing.

It says that there are 82,882 thousand working males and 73,039 working females.

I think the newest number is that the average female gets 0.78 cents for every dollar the average male does. let's just multiply the number of working females by 0.78, which is 56970420. (This number shows us how many males would be necessary to get the same amount of income all female do).

If we now divide 56970420 by 82882000+56970420 you will get the percentage all laboring females get from all income that is paid. This is 40.7%.

This number is not exact but the closest i could get with the figures i found online

The gender pay gap is the actual answer to what you're asking. It only exists because if you compare the total of how much men make vs how much women make you get that women make 30% less than men.

I believe you already know why this comparison is flawed so I won't get more into this.

TBH I don't think you can actually get an answer to your question. How much do you value say Elon Musk's GDP output and how much of that do you attribute that to his (presumed female) secretary?

Wages and earnings are different.

You can only compare a salary of a women vs a men in the same profession, same amount of experience, same amount of time at the company.

Any other comparison ignores the clear variables that effect pay. a 40 year old unemployed who has never had a job his whole life wouldn't start at the average 40 year old male salary just because he is a man. In this case we are examining this 40 year old's choices he has made his whole life in being unemployed.

For women, they typically make different choices, choose different professions. Therefore the argument on gender is kind of irrelevant. When you actually hold all the real variables constant that determine wages then you would see men get paid around the same as women.

Lots of studies show in their 20's women actually make more than men.

In terms of your question all you need to do to get a quick estimate is look at median male income per week $860

On page 76 there is 104 M people full time 46 M making $760 a week who therefore make $1.7 trillion a year. Men make on average 860 a week women and have 58 M employed therefore making $2.6 trillion.

10 M men work part-time, 17 M women work part-time. You could probably assume part-time workers make around min wage since I can't find the number. But you can see from that what men make in the economy vs women.

I don't think you can find GDP contribution split by males and females.

Simplest counter to anyone arguing wage gap is that women don't negotiate like they should. Sadly it can be from having less confidence in their position than the male counterpart.
