Hey guys, how you all doing?

So, I had a conversation with someone who said women should serve the army, that there are many examples of fighting women. I asked him for examples backed with minimal evidence, already knowing what he'll say, we then got online and checked these:

"Boadicea defeated Rome several times in battle, until they sent several legions to outnumbered her".

No, Boadicea united some barbarian hordes, burned entire cities and massacred it's civilians in the worst ways possible. She was defeated by a local Roman governor who rallied what troops he can and slaughtered her monstrous horde while heavily outnumbered.

"Jean of Arc rallied the battered French forces by leading them in battle".

No, she was a schizophrenic young woman who was used as a living banner to raise to moral of the god-fearing soldiery.

"Russia's Battalion of death- they fought the most horrid war until the time, against overwhelming odds"

No, they raised as propaganda and were recalled after a month, in which they did not see any combat.

"Kurdish women- fighting Isis, evil itself"

Damn, got me there, I don't know enough to argue on the matter.

So I asked him a question: if a female soldier from the western world will be captured and her captors will broadcast a video of her everyday- beaten, shocked, sexually abused- will people see her as just a captured soldier?

Luckily that silenced him.. (I was running out of patience)

I really love the romanticized fantasies people built around this topic.
