Comedian Jerry Seinfeld knows a thing or two about telling jokes, but he’s currently getting attention for making a grim forecast for the future of comedy.

In a June 4 ESPN Radio interview with Colin Cowherd, Seinfeld, 61, says the nation’s trend toward political correctness makes it hard for comedians to be funny.

“I don’t play colleges, but I hear a lot of people tell me ‘Don’t go near colleges,’ ” he said. “They’re so PC.”

As an example of the younger generations’ tendency to find certain topics offensive, Seinfeld offers a story about his 14-year-old daughter.

“My wife says to my daughter, ‘In the next couple of years, I think you’ll want to be hanging around the city more on weekends, so you can see boys.’ You know what my daughter says? ‘That’s sexist.’ ”

“They just want to use these words. ‘That’s racist.’ ‘That’s sexist.’ ‘That’s prejudiced.’ They don’t even know what they’re talking about,” Seinfeld said.
