Has anyone else seen this trend recently? I stumbled upon a post about Mother's Day and pets. Women were responding how they should without a doubt be titled "mothers" because of their "fur babies." When questioned they would say people don't understand.

How can you compare the two? If it was a man saying the same thing (one guy sarcastically did, actually) then there'd be Hell to raise. I can hear the now...

"What do you mean you're a 'father'? For watching after the damn dog?"

It's never a guy demanding such a title. These women are stretching and obscuring the lines to make themselves feel important in some manner, and it's a slap in the face to real parents.

Don't get me wrong, animals are family. They're a lot of work and there are incredible, colossal emotional attachments made. But it's not the same as raising a kid. A dog can be left at home for hours on end. Leave a 6 year old home alone and watch how quickly CPS is at your door. A child needs proper care that is much more intense than an animal (specific nutrition, doctors visits, education, etc).

I have a cat, and I joke around about how he's my baby kitten (he's an old man at 15), but to actually think and verbalize that I would say he's my "baby" and needed the equivalent care as a human child in all facets would sound fucking delusional.

Mark my words, women will start laying claim to father's day because, well... they feel entitled to our (for those of you who are fathers) day. That is if such an instance hasn't happened already. In this day in age I wouldn't be surprised.
