Now while I understand how people can be afraid of Muslims, most people I know only fear their religion. An extremist is normally seen as scary but the Muslims I knew were not so. These were westernized Muslims not the "real" ones out east.

Interesting how correct speech loves the suffix phobia. They use it for gays as well which I have never understood. I have had two gay roommates and a good friend who was gay. I never once feared them. Why would I? Most gays I know don't body build or learn a martial art and normally don't fight. What is there to fear? With that said I don't believe it was something they were born with and was a learned activity or preference. I can disagree with this preference, intolerance towards an action, yet still tolerate the individual. I tolerated a Muslim friend but I was intolerant of his beliefs.

Today people think tolerance is an all or nothing decision and this equivocation causes a lot of problems.
