I've been going my own way since late 2017, and so far its been great. All I do is prioritize my school work so I can finish my degree (in Physics), which has been going well so far. The spring semester just started up a few weeks ago and so I've been chugging away at my work quietly, pretty much ignoring women, and opting to bury my nose in a book if I'm not doing school work. I'm in my physics lab and notice a guy who I graduated High-school with is in there too, so we become lab partners. Neither of us talks much, so we just sit quietly and finish our labs promptly. About a week or so later, as I walk into my lab class, I see a new girl sitting in my usual spot. Since each desk has 2 chairs to it, I just sat next to her since I like being up front. I'll admit I thought she was very cute, but I never said anything to her, because I wasn't interested in anything

So lab starts up and my partner and I are working on a graph intently, when she walks up to us and asks to join our group. My lab partner is a pretty shy dude, and was caught off guard, so I just said "Yeah, I suppose.". Ever since I said those words, I've noticed she seems to have taken an interest in me, and she even put her hand on my shoulder at one point. My confusion must've been obvious because I looked at her hand as if to say "What are you doing?" . We didn't finish our lab for once, so we made tentative plans to all meet up and finish it later(by this point it was Thursday). Fast forward to our next lecture on Monday this week, and sure enough she sits right next to me up front, and I could tell she had her eyes fixed on me, even though I was just reading a book before class started. Throughout the entire lecture I notice her looking at me every few minutes, even if I'm doing something menial like jotting notes down or answering a question out loud.

So at the end of class I was talking to my buddy from high-school (lets call him H) about meeting up to finish the lab, and we both turn to the girl in our group(lets call her E) and she recommends we start a group chat on Facebook to figure it out. I hand her my phone to find her profile, and she did so, and sent a friend request from my profile. When my friend gave her his phone, I notice she didn't send a friend request, but rather just a message request. So we all get in a group chat and I ask if everybody wants to get together on Tuesday after school. H had work and wouldn't be able to. As soon as E learned this, she was instantly pushing for Tuesday, since it would (obviously) just be her and I. We planned to meet on campus Tuesday evening, but somewhat last minute she asked me to meet her at a cafe, instead.

I got there and I saw she was eating a snack and having tea, but the whole thing felt like a date to me. She was looking at me a lot and asking about my life and stuff, even though I just wanted to finish the fucking lab on time. So an hour and a half later, we finish the lab finally (it should've only taken like 20 minutes). So as we leave, and I'm starting to walk back to my apartment, she starts telling me how she isn't looking forward to the bus ride to her place on the opposite side of town. It was below 0 outside and windy as hell, so I figured I'd offer to drive her home so she didn't have to wait for the bus. I didn't mean anything by the gesture, I just felt bad it was so cold. So as I'm driving her home again I notice she's looking at me a bunch, and then in conversation mentions she has a boyfriend. This confused me because she was seemingly coming onto me pretty strongly for someone who had a boyfriend. "He lives out of state" she had said, which made things clear at that point. We drove past some art museum I had never been to, and she was talking about it. So I get to her place, and let her out, and go back home

She wasn't at the lecture on Wednesday, and on Thursday a little before the next lab, she sat next to me in the hallway while I was reading a book. She looked pretty upset or something, but was obviously trying to hide it by asking about the book I was reading. All throughout the lab she didn't say or do much, and was staring off a lot. At one point she left for 20 minutes and came back apologizing, saying there was an emergency, and H and I both shrugged it off.

Fast forward a few days and I ask her what the name of that museum was, because I was interested in checking it out over this weekend (by myself, mind you), and she tells me, and ends with "If you want any company, just let me know!". I figured why not and so we head to that museum, and another one nearby yesterday afternoon. I saw her waiting in the lobby and she was definitely dressed up, even though I was dressed somewhat casually. It was pretty fun checking out the art and we were getting to know each other a bit. She told me she was from Eastern Europe initially, even though she didn't have an accent, and that she was pre-med. She even said she was interested in the book I was reading, because she thought Quantum Physics was interesting. I thought "Smart, she likes videogames, AND shes cute? okay, whats the catch?" since obviously no unicorns exist. Fast forward a few hours and she mentions shes going out drinking with (female)friend that night, and I tell her I've gotta get home, since I'm famished by that point. She then said that she had a few hours to kill, and asked if I wanted to get some dinner with her. I was reluctant at first but agreed.

We go to a bar and order some food and drinks. I did notice that after she started drinking she was a lot more talkative. She told me the night I dropped her off she dumped her boyfriend immediately afterwards, and was still pretty upset and hand't been out in a few days, which was why she missed lecture on Wednesday, and her "Emergency" on Thursday was her shooting down her ex via phone call , who was being a huge beta about the whole thing. Then she went on to tell me how she frequents strip clubs because shes bi and apparently female strippers "suck on her boobs" and that she loves dancing "like a thot once the drinks come out". I knew the rest of the meal would be long, so I slammed my drink down, and ordered 2 more for myself. She was going on about how she had a tinder account throughout the last relationship, wasn't "really that honest with the guy", made fun of him for being a virgin when they first met, etc. I never once instigated anything and she kept touching my arm while I was eating, putting her head on my shoulder, and bumping her leg into mine. Eventually I left once her friend showed up and went home. She messaged me asking to come over and play videogames some time in the future.

I'm glad I met her because it just reaffirms what I've learned since going my own way. There are no such things as NAWALT

TL;DR : Cute smart girl acts like unicorn, but is one of the most typical AWALT's out there
