"It is better to be feared than loved, if you cannot be both."

-Nicholai Machiavelli

.

In middle school, RobertCarraway was a very average boy. But I remember a boy who was not so average. His name was Peter. Peter was classically good looking, charismatic as hell, and spoke with something resembling a lisp. It wasn’t a speech impediment, more like a peculiarity. If Peter wasn’t so damned awesome it would probably be a speech impediment. Much like rich people are eccentric, not crazy.

.

Unlike your average popular kid, who knew how to be feared, Peter knew how to be loved as well. One instance in particular stands out: We were playing racketball in gym class. There was a kid (we’ll call him Chris) - some nobody-of-a-kid who had two left feet and picked his nose at inappropriate times. You know the type. Well on this particular day Chris got lucky and made a great shot. Peter called him out by name and congratulated him; he made a big deal out of Chris’s success. He made a big deal out of Chris: the least of us. You could see the swell of pride on Chris’s face. I felt the same swell of pride when Peter interacted with me. Everyone loved him.

.

I resolved that day to be a Peter. If I ever gained power in my own life, I would use it like Peter used his power. Popular kids are on top through fear. Peter was above the popular kids because he instilled both fear and love.

"You go to woman? Do not forget the whip!"

-Freidrich Nietzsche

.

The red pill is all about the Whip. Everything you need to know to carry the whip is here on TRP. Most wimpy sniveling men are so concerned about being loved that they need to be taught how to carry the Whip. These men have never learned how to keep their personal power. IF YOU MUST CHOOSE, CHOOSE THE WHIP. Stop reading here if you have not learned to carry the whip in your life.

.

But the reality is that this is not an either-or scenario. To be a true leader of men, you need the carrot as well as the whip. To learn to use the carrot like Peter, read the book “How to Win Friends and Influence people.”

.

In that book, you will learn how to show genuine interest in people; how to get in the habit of calling everyone by name (hugely important); how to make people feel good about themselves, and therefore good about you.

.

For those who have experienced a Peter in their own lives - it is the addition of the carrot to the whip that makes for explosive success with others. Know where each strategy stands. Use them both.
