Middle road, as someone said. Dress nice but don't spend all your money trying to dress like a rap star. They look buffoonish and that sort of conspicuous consumption merely attracts whores.

I don't think clothes necessarily reflect a man's character. If you're confident in yourself then you might not feel the need to dress nicely. However there's nothing wrong in taking pride in your appearance and dressing nicely. I think people would feel better wearing nice clothes over rags. I personally don't care how I look and understand that I may be mistaken for a homeless person at times.

I have a few very nice slim fit tailored shirts, with nice cufflinks, a nice vest and pair of pants, and classic leather shoes (I love nice shoes, I have several oxfords with goodyear stitching, I guess it's where I spend the most regarding clothing...), and I can guarantee you that when I go out well dressed, women look at me really interested, even though I'm not that good looking myself...

But for everyday cloth, I'm usually in blue jeans with fun t-shirts (I like making custom t-shirts online) and I don't get any attention from women like that.

So I don't know, I feel pretty good in both clothes, but I don't reflect the same thing to other people that's for sure...
