I had the good fortune of getting into MMORPGs hard and quickly in the early aughts. I was easily putting in 70 and 80 hours a week. It was a glimpse into the darker aspects of the internet; the temptation to take everything that goes on too seriously to the point where you're unable to ever break away.

Even when you do log off, you spend your time thinking about what might be happening, what opinions are formed of you, and what opportunities you are missing. So you invariably leap right back in; your hours are rewarded in the sense that you become more connected--better connected--and your ambition grows with your connectedness.

Life seemed too slow--too inconvenient--for too little satisfaction when compared to the appeal of 'online reality'. And the worst possibility is the fear of 'missing out' on something, simply because you weren't around to experience it.

This is what I think is the problem with women and social media; it seems to me to be the same kind of dynamic at play. We seem to forget that boys and men have been killing themselves over MMORPGs long before women started killing themselves over Facebook drama. And the reason they kill themselves? I suspect that, in both cases, they no longer can distinguish the difference between living a life, and portraying a life.

The answer to MMO obsession is hard, when you are in the midst of it, but really very easy. Press the cancel button on the subscription. When it runs out, spend a day before you resubscribe. You'll discover that everything is just as you left it; nobody has ever said or did anything to make anything any worse. In everyone's estimation, you never even left. Do that enough times, and you realize that nothing that ever goes on online is all that important. Reality is much more...real.

Women on social media (their version of MMORPG) seemed to not have gotten to the point where they realize that "nothing of value has been lost" when they check out of Facebook and Instagram, and never get to post a photo of their latest happening to it. They haven't figured out that the only reason "online bullying" affects them at all is because they vest too much concern to what happens online. They take the internet too seriously, as "real", when it is actually just a distraction of reality.

And tech and culture aren't helping any, with their insistence that this digital world is "important", and "vital" and "transformative." So the women throw themselves deeper into the morass, transforming their hypergamy into "hyper-hypergamy," their body-consciousness into "hyper-body-consciousness," their entitlement into "hyperentitlement" and so on...

...Until they get broken by the social media. But rather than blame themselves for taking these things too seriously, and blame the tech companies for making them take it more seriously than it is, they blame the trolls. They blame the MRAs. They blame 4chan.

I think social media brings out the worst of people. It's not women's fault they evolved to go for the guy that will provide for them the best. In fact, it's actually a very viable strategy for survival; don't do anything but be pretty and get taken care of because you provide a solution to someone else's base primal need.
The problem begins when the world is so connected you literally have social interaction at your fingertips.
Combine a biological imperative to find the best provider with an almost infinite pool of potential candidates and women can choose at their leisure which guy they want, to detrimental effect I may add.
Imagine you needing a pair of shoes and you have an entire mall with only shoe-stores. Would you go to the first store and pick whatever shoe fits your criteria the best? If you're smart, you wouldn't because there are surely better shoes that can fit even more into your criteria if you were more selective and looked in more stores. Compare that entire mall to shopping in a lonely mom&pop shoe-store in that middle of nowhere chucklefuck of a town you live in which literally only has 5 different pairs. You better make the best of the shoe you can afford because there's no better alternative.

I don't think social media keeps women from developing into mature responsible adults because. But what it does is give them access to the quickest type of validation. So instead of having to always go out to clubs, bars, and dressing a certain way, they can post hot pics on facebook and instrgram, say a lame joke, and get a ton of likes and comments.

I had to click unfollow on facebook and a few female friends. All they post is bullshit and they keep getting attention from it.

No.All people under 'relaxed' conditions show their true colors.These are women true colors.They were never responsible adults but were forced to act so because life was harsh in the old days.So women's behaviour isnt social media fault but fault of relaxed conditions - too much security in their life.

No, it's just an amplifier that also gives more people a view into their behavior. The thing that arrests the growth of women with respect to personal responsibility is the fact that both peers and elders encourage them to seek attention, validation, and sympathy at an early age.

I agree. I think women generally are just normally prone to this. But living in an entitlement society which fully enables bad behavior brings out the worst in women, and the worst in men as well. It's just that women are generally enabled. The system protects them at most every level. Now that's enabling and entitlement at its highest. Expect them to be shitty and act nuts Men on the other hand are enabled young and learn entitlement. Having really no Maslows hierarchy of needs, and knowing they won't starve, that struggle is light, develope this aspect of no reason to be alarmed, and thus motivated to man up. Survival and hardship without a net can change this but not necessarily. It's a bitch of a time. Mgtow helps.

I will not interact with women on any level what so ever anymore. Maybe a quick "hello" if greeted, but that's all.

They themselves have become so removed from reality that it's sickening.

The modern western woman can be categorized as a generally stuck up (for no good reason), superficial, un loyal, supremely entitled, on the surface , obnoxious beast with vapid interests and concerns at best . This is not someone I choose to befriend or try and start a relationship with . Not worth the risk , time , and effort .

Social media is just enabling and displaying these nasty traits that we have known women to have since the beginning of recorded history. Basically it acts as an amplifier, bringing all of the shit to your front doorstep, reminding you 24/7 of the western women's true colors.

Social media also enables a generation of attention whores by having them actually believe they are of more importance/relevance than they actually are. It's like : Nobody gives a flying fuck that you took 3 hours to put on makeup and capture the perfect duck face for your fake internet acquaintances.

Also , getting friends on social media isn't the same as making friends in real life . It provides a false sense of how 'popular' the girl thinks she is - in comparison to how 'popular' she really is.

I actually think women are improving because their world is so much larger by comparison. If you went back in a time machine to 1996, 1986, or 1976 you would probably find that they are way the hell dumber and are far more vapid.
