When people say "you just haven't found the right one yet, you just need to look harder [or do x, y, and z]." I have a purple pill that everyone can (kind of) easily swallow:

"Did you know that for every 100 female babies, there are 107 male babies? This changes depending on the source you look at (118 for China, 104 for some countries but more young men than young women across the board). You see, when you say that 'I just haven't found the right one' I think to myself that you must mean that I should wait until after the inflection point in a person's 40s where females outnumber males. Women live an average of 5 years longer than men, it's true that we drop like flies, but... what if... there simply aren't an equal number of men and women of breeding age? What would you say to the 6.54% of men who are left standing during the game of musical chairs in which people are swapping partners until the music stops? Mathematically, there is not going to be a 'the one' for many people, unless you're advocating polyandry and male-male-female relationships, or some other solution. What if, instead of looking for love in the arms of a woman, I, instead, look toward loving myself? Surely, if you're trying to give me advice, you would advise taking care of myself first, would you not? Am I not important? Am I not more important than some woman in the abstract which you call 'the one'? After all, you are talking to me and not to her, the abstract woman. Or, and this would pain me to hear; you care more for some woman you've never met, than you care for me in this conversation... I would hope that you can respect my choice to be single and not chase after some abstract concept which is not mathematically favorable to find. I love myself, and don't feel that I need the love of a woman in order to love myself, even if it were more probable. And if you cannot respect my personal agency, then I would request that you refrain from giving me any future advice."

Ah, musical chairs... but with beds, and dance partners... such a silly game.
