You can choose to feel it or embrace escapism, such as booze, sex, love, video games, religion, friends, knowledge, fame, money, consumerism, tv, work, drugs, medicines, social media, charity, children, family, traveling... You see where this is going to.

You can't do anything about parents dying, it happens, it's inevitable. But you're very naive if you think all people get along with their parents, you're also pretty daft to keep looking for validation from mummy and daddy when you're past 40.

And don't get me started on children - they are net leech in all respects; financially, socially, emotionally, chronologically. Children don't respect their parents until adulthood, and the notion that "my children will look after me when I get old" is hilarious - very few people see their parents very frequently let alone have their parents live with them.

Ones successes are for oneself; if you're looking elsewhere for validation you're doing it wrong

My parents are still alive in their 70s, my kids are still young enough to be at home, and I'm divorced.

Fuck no I don't feel alone. I have my kids, and tons of plans. I had these plans while I was married, but she derailed them every chance she got. I've been with enough women and have seen enough bullshit that I just don't care.

I get occasional sex, and if I really feel the need for it, I have no issues getting it.

I'm tired of feeling like the beast of burden for womens' bad decisions. I tried dating for a while after the divorce, mostly stuck to women my own age, and virtually all of them had poisoned their marriages and were looking to be rescued. But their standards were pretty high. One woman who had left her "boring" doctor husband wanted to know when I would buy a boat, since she had to sell hers in the divorce. Oh, and she lived with her parents since she had no job skills and the alimony she got wasn't enough to live in the area she wanted to live.

I am not looking to be tied down again. I want to travel and build cool shit and enjoy my life without being leashed to some harpy's stupid insecurities and demands.

if your'e in your 40-50 you should be already able to live without your parents lol ;)

You can't even guarantee spouses and children stand behind your success. The amount of families that disband once a man has died and financial assets are up for grab is alarming. At that age you should be seeking out lifelong friendships even more readily than a teenager.

I find it sad that you have to seek validation in the opinion others. Its my life and I live it how I want and don't gave a damn what others think.
