Some may have already read this story, but this thread is too relevant to not repeat.

Mid-80's, I was 10 or 12, sitting by my Pa one morning while he read the newspaper. He read a story about some feller killin' hisself after a divorce. He remarked, "I just don't understand these men killin' themselves over a woman."

Pa was born in '26 and was a retired honky-tonker, barroom brawler and he loved a lot of women in his time. I was naive.

"Well, maybe he loved her." I offered.

He paused a long minute while he continued to read silently and finally said, "Hmph. Love? What IS love? You'll love any damn ole dog if it hangs around long enough."

I have since divorced twice and gone through my share of women, and never have I been more than mildly depressed after any split. It is hard to be down when I hear Pa's voice saying, "You'll love any damn ole dog if it hangs around long enough."

He said every woman has the same thing between her legs.

On no account should women be allowed to be guards in male prisons. No. Exceptions. It genuinely baffles me that this is somehow controversial. They can still get jobs in women prisons, or in some other role within the complex - but not in the jails.

I wonder when this started? I may do some investigations here, but I bet it's a fucking Boomer thing. Boomers.

I once hired a woman and later found out she had been a prison guard. She was fired and charged when she was found to have moved an inmate in with her after his release. (Most prisons require the inmate to be off parole or for a certain amount of time to have passed before prison staff can socialize or engage in a relationship with them.)

I reckon this sort of thing happens frequently.
