I would wait a few more years to really see how reliable they are in the long run.
[–]WalmartNiggaPussy[S] 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, but it still looks sexy
[–]christianknight23 points24 points25 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Where else have we learned that chasing sexy things is risky?

it's still cheaper than getting divorced

Cars are like women.
Make sure you know how to find the flaws so you don't make an investment you regret.

Whatever you end up setting your mind on, work hard, be honest, and put on the effort, and you’ll get there.

Don’t kill yourself to buy a depreciating asset. Unless you can afford it, then go for it.

not getting this car until I'm a millionaire.
[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
People don’t want to be millionaires. They just want to spend a million dollars.
[–]WalmartNiggaPussy[S] 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I'd rather be a millionaire
[–]LordSil2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
you can become a real millionaire only when your passive income reaches a million a year, which you can only get by owning properties that grant such passive income.

I used to work in automotive research, forecasting automotive sales and forecast the industry as well. Part of my gig was test driving cars for research purposes.
Tesla’s don’t age well and have horrendous quality control issues.
Imagine buying windows vista but it’s a car.
[–]WalmartNiggaPussy[S] 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
well that sucks
[–]MrPudge912 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
So lease it then and enjoy the 3 years

Same advice applies to women.
Trade them in for a newer model before they start leaking fluids and hit the wall.

What would you say are the most reliable cars other than Toyota & Lexus? I
[–]contraterrene1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Good question.
I love doing research on anything that is a potential purchase and there really is nothing out there that matches Toyota-Lexus.
There are a few ways you can increase the longevity of them such as using all amsoil fluids such as their motor oil, oil filters, brake fluids and ultra low toxicity coolant.
Also if you live in an area with rough roads and are buying a new car then get the wheel protection package. It will cost less than a couple of grand but any problems with pothole damage will be covered for 10 years on an unlimited basis.
Preventative maintenance every 20k miles with a trustworthy mechanic (good luck finding one!) and not a stealership will also massively reduce cost per mile / year.

What are the cars you recommend that is like a Windows 7 Ultimate?
[–]adrenaline3020 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I’d definitely look at Genesis as a brand. Their sedans are very impressive. They are what Lincoln should be. Understated, very powerful, really nice interiors. I very much enjoyed the VW Atlas when I reviewed it over a weekend - quick and holds a tons of cargo. Hellcat was a fun one but impractical for me. Gladiator was fun but also impractical. Kia Stinger also fun but a bit impractical as well. Don’t bother with a G-Wagon, while fast and decent off road, anyone over 4’9 won’t fit in the back seat. Land Cruiser was fun if not a bit obnoxious.
Id need to know more in terms of what you want. SUV or car? Off-road or not, speed or luxury, etc.

Thanks for the fast reply, these information is already enough.
[–]randoms4205 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
This looks cool. Wats the name of this car?
[–]WalmartNiggaPussy[S] 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
tesla model 3
[–]xkulp83 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
I felt this way with a car once, then when I saved up that much decided I would rather keep the money. That was around age 25. I retired at 39 and now can buy a Model 3 for every day of the week if I wanted. Then if I totaled all seven of them could buy another seven.
[–]thelookoutbelow2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
What did you make your money in
[–]xkulp810 points11 points12 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
US Dollars.
OK, broadly, finance/trading/portfolio mgmt.
That misses the point though. I'd rather have money than things.
[–]thelookoutbelow3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Right on
[–]CaramelSpaceFrog2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Money are things too cause they are useless! Be carefull
[–]getfreeeeeeedom6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Bullshit that money is useless lol
One of my goals is to have $1.5m in the bank and stretch out in my hammock at 2:00pm on a Tuesday while smelling the fresh cut grass on the lawn that is the paid off property. The psychological benefits can be huge. That’s a thing. Not useless to me.
[–]CaramelSpaceFrog1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
One day you will regret not using all your money !investing safe ! And if you whant to have $1.5m in the bank then be ready to lose 2-4% of it every year! And in bank is not safe ! Good luck
How old are you?
[–]Chad_Thunderfist4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You can always go with the model 3, to start; last I checked it's around 30k, which ain't bad
[–]markhamONT4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Have one. It’s amazing.
[–]WalmartNiggaPussy[S] 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
what's instant torque like?
[–]markhamONT3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Makes me never want to buy gas car
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I'd rather have a volt. Much smarter design.
[–]WalmartNiggaPussy[S] 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
it looks ok, i still prefer this one
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
The volt sure isn't winning any beauty contests. But the range seems better with the Volt. I like having the gasoline engine backup to improve maximum range.
[–]WalmartNiggaPussy[S] 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
i guess it comes down to whether you're buying it for productivity or for enjoyment

thats just that shiny car paint job you in love with. the doctor i work with got a tesla model x with the gull wings and it was aight. interior material was lacking and i hate the big touch screen. would i trade my rav4 for it, yes. would i pay for it, no.
[–]contraterrene0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think it is best not to view any car as a prize but as a utility.
Buy it for work and never ever have to pay for gas again.
However, I think it may be wise to wait a couple of years for battery technology to improve from either Dyson or Goodenough (the inventor of the original Li+ battery) purported advancements to put into production.

I'm getting myself a Honda CRF. :)
[–]adrenaline3020 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Hondas have a pretty good reliability, particularly their sedans. Kia used to offer 100k mile warranty, idk if that’s still the case. But they’ve improved a lot lately too. Their genesis brand is honestly a really good deal. VW/Audi in my experience are pretty decent - just expensive to maintain.
I don’t recommend Tesla mainly because I remember being in the S and X and seeing interior and exterior paneling that had gaps that were very noticeable. Then reading the Tesla reddit page you’d see owners very frequently complain about the same issues I was seeing and then about wait times to fix it and etc. if Ford or Toyota had these same problems consumers would be a lot less forgiving. Not to mention the whole “it can drive by itself” is nonsense. Generally speaking it’s impressive but sometimes it fucks up and then people die.

[+]bamabeatsny-6 points-5 points-4 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Why? It's not even a car. And why would you want to support a company that is raping and pillaging the American taxpayer to line the pockets of a narcissistic lying sociopath?
[–]drakal70 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
what do you mean ... could you explain on it ?
[–]bamabeatsny1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Wow, several haters. LOL. Don't like truth huh? Down voting for pointing out truth? Pathetic.
Cars have engines. Teslas are electric and run on batteries. Not a car.
Tesla has been underwritten by the US government to the tune of billions. Taxpayer funds are used to pay for these cars to be made and sold at the price they are. Just as the airline industry has been underwritten by taxpayer dollars for decades.
