Don't remember the title at the moment, but there was a scifi book along these lines where something like 99% of men were killed off by disease and then society fell apart without men to maintain the world. Technology and modern living got plunged back into feudalism with roving bands of women stealing and attacking other tribes of women. The few men that were found and who weren't already in hiding were kept in chains or at least under guard at all times and used as breeding stock. The disease was still active so male babies were usually miscarried or still born while girls were born ok. Don't remeber how it ended though.

This scenario would never happen. Most women (as we've seen demonstrated by Bear Grylls and his survivor island - men and women on different islands) would die pretty quickly through dehydration and lack of food.
