guys, its been so long since i've played video games...like playstation 2 era.
2001-2002 maybe 03 ..idk.
I remember call of duty being new and playing games like FIFA and madden...
I have extra money now and am bored a lot ..any suggestions on cool games and a system that may be worth my time?

Nah at this time you can get legit beast hardware for cheap. i mean before the lockdowns that is. not sure if the prices are high or low where you live. But still performance has improved a lot for even mid ranged pc's.
you can buy a decent Ryzen or intel i5-i7-i9 cpu and a gtx 1660 Gpu (i prefer Nvidia GPu's) and ram and MOBO of your choice and you are set. i could help you with getting a cool mobo. then you can choose what parts you want to put on it depening on its specs.

Yeah PC is pricey. I spent $2000 on mine in 2015 and it's still going strong . I haven't had to upgrade any components yet. Most people don't spend 2k on a PC though, but I like to future proof and buy the best.
You could get a decent PC for the price of a new console if you were frugal enough.
Don't buy PCs from major chains or retailers. No Dell or HP or best buy computers. If there's something like a Fry's Electronics nearby they sell PC components and will build them for you if legos was never your thing. r/buildapc is a good source of information.

I cant really speak for console since I only own Battlefield 1 for my PS4, but I can recommend some for PC.
If you're into military games I would recommend Company of Heroes 2 (19.99 base game, 36.40 for all DLC), Heroes and Generals (free), War Thunder (free), Star Wars Empire at War Gold Pack (19.99), Arma 3 or Squad (29.99 and 39.99 respectively, Arma is more 'realistic' and Squad has more user friendly gameplay, and Wargame Red Dragon (29.99 base game, 4 dlc are free but the rest are 21.97, making it 51.96 for everything).
If you like building/combat games you can try Unturned (free), Minecraft (>30) (Java edition is better mod wise but if you want and easy to run experience get Windows 10 store version), and Terraria (9.99).
There are many more games I could recommend, so if you are interested tell me a genre.
Personal favorite is Elite Dangerous but its grindy and can get very boring to some people. You can get all but Minecraft on steam.

It's all a matter of taste my good sir. Personally I would recommend God of War (2018) since it is truly epic/ macrocosmic storytelling and it's a game that will bring you back into gaming big time.

The new PlayStation 5 console is supposed to be coming out around Christmas time, so if you can wait till then you’ll be best getting a PS5 or presumably the PS4 will drop in price.
If you get a PlayStation then pretty much every PlayStation exclusive, but The Last of Us, God of War, Horizon: Zero Dawn & Grand Theft Auto should be a good start

In fact I hear they're already dropping prices on the PS4 and XBOX. Depends on what happens with the economy I might get one. Otherwise I still got my PS3 and some Genesis, Super Nintendo, NES, and Atari emulators on am old laptop.

It's funny so many people called the game boring. I'm not trying to sound like a pompous ass hat here, but despite it being a game where you literally just walk and deliver packages, it held my interest way more then a game say like Horizon: ZeroDawn or Resident Evil 2 remake.
I was literally addicted to it my first play through. Also loved the story so the cutscenes had me entranced.
Metal Gear Solid 5 on the other hand.... Great gameplay but the story was literal ass so overall I hated the game.

If you wanna buy a console this gen then PS4 is the way to go. Lots of exclusives like God of War,Last of us,Horizon zero dawn,Uncharted series,Spider man( currently bundle on discount for $20). The Uncharted trilogy is currently offered for free till 29th Apr (Uncharted 4 is free currently on PS+ subscription). Besides you can get the other multi-platform games too if you want. There's also a great range of indie games to choose from as well.
