Marriage, contrary to what it's sold as by commercial and state interests, is actually the result of a history of religious and political control agendas that aren't about love but about controlling it and the populace.

The evolution of societal norms and with it of marriage and divorce laws has brought marriage rates into a free fall and an ever increasing proportion of marriages ending in divorce. Even among the relationship-oriented men - i.e. those with a more restricted sociosexual orientation, who aren't looking for no-string casual sex but for a lasting relationship with sex as a part of that - most don't see marriage and what it has become as a basis that would be suitable for building a stable loving relationship ideally lasting for life. Neither the idea of a threesome with the state nor the concept of letting the state dictate the terms of the relationship rather than going with terms purely chosen and agreed upon together look like a good option nowadays.

Marriage is pretty much dead. (Of course there are always anecdotal exceptions, but that doesn't change the big picture nor the problems that led to that situation).

But what about the idea to recycle the old-style marriage model as a penal sentence? Imagine an old-style (no divorce possible) forced marriage for life sentence. Either as a penance for criminal behavior - or, better yet, for people of opposing hate groups to be force married to someone of an opposite corresponding hate group, e.g. let's say:

The hardcore misogynistic factions among mgtow or incels being force married to hardcore misandrists like femcels, FDS or PinkPillFeminists?

Would that be a good idea? What do you think?
