I asked AskReddit why there was a female page for Toxic Masculinity but not one for Toxic Femininity. I was just curious. To an outsider perspective one would think if one exists the other would as well. Instead of a reasoned debate I was called all sorts of names. I even started feeling bad for wanting to know. It actually lead me to communities like this one and I realized there's nothing wrong with asking a question. After thinking about it some more I began to understand just how much of a threat asking questions can be. If you're secure in where you're coming from you would welcome any opportunity to strengthen your ideology. The only regimes that resist this are the only that know they aren't founded on anything solid - though it's typically autocratic one.

Now I can't unsee the effect these fears have on my interactions -- with men and women alike. I suppose if I were identity Toxic Femininity it would be remarkably similar to the oppressiveness women had to contend with before the era of women's rights. Now that they have a voice it's like men can't, it's our time, the future is female, the hypocrisy is blinding, yet they don't see it. Maybe they can't. It's ironic. You would think if anyone would get it it'd be a group that's been through it -- not to mention them supposedly being the more emphatic sex. The main difference being that while women, by and large, couldn't escape, men, at least on an individual level can. Of course that does little to address the macro effects. Hell you can even still enjoy the company of women, to a point. Eventually they'll want you to take on the yoke. It worked back in the day -- again not saying it was necessarily right -- but at least men got something in the exchange. Women have been inflated to such an extent that they think they're so great that men should just trip over themselves to provide a steady life for her and her children -- though that can get boring so she'll entitled to go out and get what he refuses to provide, not realizing you're presenting an impossible tasking, asking someone to look left and right at the same time. That being said I think I would behave in a similar manner if exposed to the same conditions. Today if you ask for anything you're toxic.

It's thought crime to say anything less than praiseful.

TL/DR: Toxic femininity is the practice of using the same oppressive tactics that were used against women but to now direct it toward men. Oblivious to the irony. Or purporting to use a man's masculinity in service of femininity (aka "if you were a real man you would ..." or "just be a man").
