My parents are both in their late-50's, and I think the only thing that keeps them going is their hope of having grandchildren. I'm in my early-20's and have never had an LTR and neither do I plan on having one. I'm born with some mental disabilities and issues that I'll live with for the rest of my life, and never would I want to pass on my genes. It's like I'm doing my potential future children a favor by not bringing them into this world.

I've had sex enough times in my life, and it's nice, however, I feel so disappointed in myself for being such a slave of it for so many years and finally I've come to see that there are so many things in the world available for me other than sex. And I quite frankly think the celibate lifestyle would suit me well.

Whenever my father sees me with a girl on a picture or something, his eyes lighten up like I've never seen on him before. And therefore it breaks my heart that I won't live up to his expectations of me. And I've told my mother that they most likely won't have grandchildren and she just took it as a joke. My father also often mentions the fact that soon I will find my soulmate for life.

I have no desire to teach him RP principles as it's simply idiotic and without reason as he has established his paradigm years ago. I just want them to know how I feel and that their genetic line probably will never pass on and that it's totally fine. But I want to tell them without breaking their heart as I think their hope is the only thing they have that keeps them going.
