Tank tops are good in proper environment. IMO, if it’s not 90+ outside, no need for one. A modest way would be a clean white tee that fits a little snug. Can’t go wrong with that.

Time and place but yes for summer casual wear they are very acceptable. Just don't be that guy who wears tanks 2 sizes too small and walks around with invisible lat syndrome. Wear them like you would wear a shirt, don't think too much into it.

I wear them, especially when it’s hot out. Tank tops and short shorts. Girls wear booty shorts year-round, no shame in wearing it during the hottest season of the year.

Nobody would bat an eye if you wear it. Unless the area you’re going to has a dress code, where whatever you want.

Plenty of out of shape men wear sleeveless NBA jerseys and nobody bats an eye. No need to be self-conscious.
