They lost it all, what they had was all kind of bullshit anyway. They get a big reality check and it comes down to the only thing they own.. a run down, neglected, super quirky town. ( The realization that all you really own is your own neglected and non-invested in self). The only way to get up is to fix it up, learn it thoroughly, begin to challenge your initial perceptions of it, shift your inner dialogue, let go of the attachments to people that weren't real or to be counted on, rebuild from scratch and in the course become much more secure in their identity and self worth. Eventually grow internally and communally & love it.

Damnit, that show was so cheesy but represents the process of recovering from narcissistic abusive relationships pretty well.

I mean, really thinking about it. The parents reignite their love for each other. Ie. Your self love.

The daughter challenges her vanity and ego. Ie. Being able to build true love after re-evaluating your own values & boundaries

The son actually starts to achieve real goals instead of the ones people had padded for him. Ie. Dismantling false illusions from narcissist carrots and building actual self worth through your achievements.

It's just a big ol narcissist abuser recovery fest.
