The fact is that I never made him put any effort into our marriage. I never wanted expensive gifts or trips. I was extremely low maintenance. I never asked or expected anything of him. And my needs never mattered as long as he got what he wanted. I’m sure he didn’t see it that way, and I was so pathetic that I literally put all my needs on the back burner and did everything his way.

He came home from work every day and watched sports. He spent every single Sunday in his basement man cave watching sports. Any time we were in the car, we had to listen to sports radio. On our one vacation a year, he golfed 5 out of the 7 days. The entire trip was planned around when he was going to golf.

Our marriage took zero effort from him. And when he left me to be with her, I told myself reality would set in when she started having expectations of him, when she wanted things, when he had to put in some effort. I thought that’s when he would experience karma, and he would realize how easy he had it with me. But the fact of the matter is that he also found an AP who expects nothing of him. They’ve been together for 4 years now. And as long as he doesn’t have to put in any effort, they will be endgame.
