Same rules apply. Just because you've 'known' him longer, don't use that to overlook red flags and bad behavior. Personally, I'd keep him on the rotation for longer than I did random strangers, if only to prevent myself from going all in too quickly.

Also, a pro tip here: Random strangers often exhibit LV behavior quicker than people we've known. Friends know us; they know what we like and dislike, they know what will win us over, and most importantly- they are less likely to treat you like crap within the first few months due to social sanctioning of mutual friends and family. (Sidebar: this is actually why I love online dating. You see true colours much quicker.)

Like a real friendship, as in you have more an idea if he has LV or HV tendencies and if you think he can be trusted? If he seems to be ambitous and kind, heck yes. Those situations have turned out great for me. Especialy if, when you met, he had a particular reason for the wait asking you out.

Also, 99% of the time, don't accelerate your timetable on exclusivity or anything else- he still has to get to know you in a dating context like any other man would. If you're wondering why he took forever to ask you out.... Caution, more caution than with a man you're recently meeting. There is such a thing as getting too emotionally comfortable beforehand, too. Watch out for that. Don't want a man who doesn't know how to put his best foot forward.
